Remarks

The other colleges I applied to were, all IIMs, MDI, XLRI, FORE, IMI. I had confirmed admissions from IMT-G, FORE, IMI, IIM-CAP except IIM Udaipur and was waitlisted in MDI. I had to choose between IIM Raipur and IMT Ghaziabad in the end and I ended up choosing IMT because my parents didn’t want to send me too far away, and because I reside in Delhi, staying in Ghaziabad was very convenient. I did her rejected from old IIMs because I couldn’t clear the percentile cut off, got rejected from XLRI-BM programme because I didn’t perform at par in the interview. The admission process of IMT is pretty convenient. We can get in through multiple different exams such as CAT, XAT or GMAT. The course most preferred here is PGDM Marketing and we have great faculty for every course in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Usually about 40-50 students are seated in a class. The total strength of my specialisation is around 350-400. The gender ratio for girls:boys for my batch is 30:70 and it’s the same across all specialisations as well. The class is culturally very diverse with people from different religions, regions, backgrounds. We have students from almost every state starting from Jammu to Tamil Nadu to Assam and Gujarat and even states such as Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradhesh etc. Major population is from northern parts of the country. The peer group is very diverse in terms of the work experience and their previous educational experience. There is a lot peer learning happening in classes especially because we have special marks associated to class participation in every subject. I have mixed view on the fact that students genuinely attend classes for learning. Some students just attend classes to get through the course without a grade loss but the ones who regularly attend and participate in class are the ones truly there to learn.

Internships Opportunities

2

Yes the college achieved 100% placement. I’m unaware about how many students got paid internships. Average stipend for the batch stood at ₹94,000 with highest being ₹4.5 lacs. The most preferred companies for my course are FMCG companies because people get the true essence of marketing by first working in fmcg. Their monthly stipend varies from ₹50k-2 lacs. There were a few companies such as home trust realty which hired in bulk and paid around 20-30k per student. About 120-150 students on an average concert PPOs. Once we accept the PPOs, we are opted out of the final placements. The internship scenario is similar in all the courses. It is a bit better for marketing than for finance but not extremely difficult.

Placement Experience

2

The final placements starts in November. The placement season officially gets over by March. Almost everyone gets placed by March but the college keeps the placements open for another month for the few who couldn’t get placed and eventually everyone gets placement. The average CTC stands at ₹17 LPA with highest being ₹65.6 LPA. The most preferred companies for my course are fmcg. Their average CTC stands at around ₹18.8 LPA. The role of the placement committee is to seamlessly hold the placement processes and to maintain order. The process is sometimes biased but mostly transparent.

Fees and Financial Aid

In year 1, admission fees of ₹50,000, academic fees of ₹10,30,000, alumni fees of ₹8,000, caution deposit (refundable) of ₹15,000 is supposed to be paid which totals up to ₹11,03,000. In year 2, academic fees of ₹8,50,000 is supposed to be paid. The total for the 2 years comes out to be ₹19,53,000. But female candidates in our batch got a 25% rebate on this fee. This fee is higher than some bschools such as FMS and lower than others such XLRI. Some other general expenses include personal daily use items, eating out, leisure activities, shopping, travelling etc. Fee waiver scholarships are available for students. First one is the for all female candidates that they get 25% rebate. Second one is academically excellent students who are chosen for a rebate on tuition fee. Third one is for EWS students. Around 40% of the population being female candidates, all get the 25% rebate and apart from that about 10-15 students get other scholarships.

Campus Life

2

We have sports facilities both indoor and outdoor such as badminton, basketball, football, lawn tennis and table tennis facilities. We have a fully equipped gym, open at all times. We have well equipped library and auditorium and we have access to third party resources via the library. The campus is 14 acres big and hostel and academic building are not too far off so students just walk to classes every day. Personal vehicles are not allowed on the campus premises. Relatives can visit for a few hours but cannot stay overnight on campus. There are no other food joints apart from the nescafe and the cafeteria. Yes the college has a doctor on campus every day for a few hours and ambulance at all times. The campus life is fun and flexible. The nightlife is lively especially when there are events going on. The cafeterias are open till 5 am every day. Students are always roaming around the campus 24*7. Students go out of the campus very often. Outside the college we have some tea stalls where students usually hangout and there is a small mall and a few cafés nearby. Inside the campus, students hangout around the sports ground or in the cafeteria. Roaming outside the campus at night is not very safe in Ghaziabad. We have our college Fest named Passion, and cultural events such as Holi, dandiya night, freshers and farewell and many more. The campus is lit up during these events. Some celebrities such as Akhil Sachdeva have come on campus to perform in the past and we’ve also had standup comedians such as Biswa join us. Major club committees include the Placement committee, student council, academic committee, the PR committee, admissions committee, mess committee, cultural committee, sports committee and some clubs are enactus, marketing club, etc. I’m currently not a part of any club/committee but during first year I was a part of the PR committee of the college. These club/committees help students with honing there soft skills and are helpful for CV pointers as well. Yes the college also has student exchange programs, students went to France as a part of the exchange. Around 20 students took part in this exchange and about 5-10 lacs was the money spent based on how much everyone could possibly spend

Hostel Facilities

2

The girls and boys hostels are separate buildings. Girls are allowed to enter boys hostels but not vice versa. The total number of boys and girls hostel buildings are 5 each. Hostel allocation takes place on a random basis by the student council and the administration. Separate breakdown of the hostel fees isn’t available as we’re not allowed to choose single or double occupancy rooms, they’re just randomly allocated and there is no triple sharing rooms. The hostel timings/college timings are from 6 am to 10 pm. Students are not allowed to leave college post 10 pm. However, we can freely roam around in and out of our hostels any time of the day with no restrictions but going in and out of the campus area is restricted. Yes food is included in hostel fees but I’m unable to find the specific breakdown. Yes there is one separate cafeteria and a Nescafé area in campus and students prefer the cafeteria more these days. The food quality is better compared to some other bschools and we get a menu every 2 weeks from the Mess Committee of the college. Yes the hostels are guarded. There are 1-2 guards present in the hostel building at all times and there have thankfully been no security threats at all.I have a sharing room. We don’t get to choose if we want sharing or non sharing room. There are ACs in every room, water cooler is there on every other floor, geysers are there in washrooms on every floor, almirah, study table, bed, chair but mattresses and other items we carry on our own. We don’t have a recreation room. The washrooms are not attached to the rooms. We have common washrooms and they’re cleaned once everyday. About 20-25 people share these common washrooms on a single floor.

Exam Structure

The admission process included form filling, followed by a proctored online WAT test and then a personal interview with a panel of professors. This was for the year 2023 when I got admission as the process was being held online. However, these things happened offline in 2024. The application was filled in November, we had the following WAT and PI processes in early February followed by an acceptance mail from the college in Mid March. Post this, we were supposed to pay the fee in instalments for the first year and the we had some pre-joining sessions with professors online and we joined college in the last week of June. For exams, a lot of CAT giving students got in at >90 percentile and XAT giving students got in at the same score. However, we do find a lot of high XAT scorers such 97/98 percentilers like myself. There is no other way of getting admission in the college apart from following the procedure mentioned above.

Faculty

Curriculum is not that hard. But many students get back in the 1st year due to negligence. You get a deeper understanding of the subject but industry exposure is not there. In each semester there are two class tests and one main semester exams. Classes are scheduled from 10 am -5 pm with a break between 1:30- 2:30 pm. About 4 to 8 classes are held in one day. Faculties teach in a descriptive manner and also give several assignments after the class. Faculties like Dr. Vijay Tewari, Dr. Chhaya Singh, Dr. Anurag Shukla are some of the best faculties in here who teach the subjects with one on one interaction with the students. Attendance of 75% is compulsory in each subject to sit in semester exams. Students who don't maintain 75% Attendance are debarred from the exams.
