Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very well designed especially with an additional component that no other colleges offer making this course one of a kind. Being an autonomous college they are free to design their syllabus and exams in the best interest of the students and keep it up to date. The course is a comprehensive base for a master's in psychology. The difficulty of the exam is in line with the material taught. The only point of improvement is time management with respect to completing the portion
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid Rs.24,890/- one-time fees for the final year TYBA Psychology course. It is a self-financed course thus the high fee. For other TYBA courses, the fee is Rs.12,856/-. Being an unaided, self-financed course, the TYBA Psychology course does not currently come under any financial aid or scholarship schemes.
Campus Life
Though I did not engage in groups, there are a variety of student organised clubs that participate in various intercollege programs. Every week there is some program or workshop or guest lecture happening in the auditorium open for all. Exhibitions are organised by various departments. Departmental fests are highly encouraged and the college's cultural fest UBUNTU is enjoyed by all students from and outside the college. The library in college occupies the entire 3rd floor. With a wide range of books for all departments and enough space to sit and work, it is a comfortable, accessible space.
Admission
I applied to DG Ruparel but did not get in due to the cut-off being higher there as they only offer 30 seats. I applied to Patkar because the exam structure makes it a holistic application-based course. However, in other colleges 100 marks written exams are compulsory. Assignments and the add-on extra credit courses in Patkar really honed me for the professional world. For Patkar my admission process was straightforward. I applied online by filling in a google form and uploading my past year marksheets. Based on my marks from semesters 1 to 4 I was accepted to the TYBA Psychology Program.
Faculty
All the faculty members are well qualified, currently working in the profession, and extremely helpful in all aspects. There are two exams of 60 marks and 40 marks are internal based on assignments and class participation. The written exams are fairly structured such that regular attendance and studying would make it easy.
Night Life
The college has a canteen and girls' hostel on campus. right outside are numerous restaurants, cafes and roadside carts. it is close to the railway station thus everything is accessible and safe. The college gates close at 6 pm unless open for fest. Around the campus, there are hangout spots to sit, chat and eat.
Other Applied Colleges
