Course Curriculum Overview
Speaking from my IT Department perspective , we have a great curriculum ranging from important AI/ML topics such as probability which includes various distributions and regression to basic electrical engineering because these are basic subjects which a engineer should know . We have great labs for each subject including the environmental sciences lab , electrical lab , computer lab . Just the drawback is that the curriculum is really hectic since there are assignmnets , quizzes , viva-voca and projects and presentations because of which we get less time to sharpen our skills espically in first year.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are also good and year by year it is increasing . The highest stipend offered was by microsoft which was 1.25lac . Various companies which hire students for internships are Google,Microsoft , Adobe , Amazon ,UKG and many more . These companies are open for many roles such as SDE , SWE, Full-Stack Developer , Web Developer and one thingwhich they see is the CGPA and the projects you did in these years.
Placement Experience
From 5th Semester students are eligible for internships and placements if they have the required skillset. Few Companies which visited campus last year were Google , Microsoft , Adobe , Citi Bank , Oracle , Amazon ,Accenture and many more etc. The average package for CSE was around 16-17lac followed by IT around 15lac , ECE was around 14lac. The Google offered the highest package of 52lpa.

Campus Life
The campus life till now what is experienced is quite good . We have cultural fest named UTKANSH and tech fest named TECH-NITI and we also have various other events inlcuding sports -fest and very other festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and dedication . We have two dedicated librarires one is fully-computerised and the other is the old library which has over 1lac books . It is a very quiet place and has strict rules and one can study with full dedication and focus. We have various coding and teh clubs to dance , music , drama and modelling clubs as well .
Hostel Facilities
Hostels in NIT Jalandhar are quite good . For first year students BH1,BH2 and BH5 are alloted for boys and GH1 and GH2 for girls are alloted . In our hostel we have common room which inlcudes Television , Table Tennis , Chess and Carrom where we can enjoy together . In BH1 hostel we have a dedicated computer lab , volleyball court , badminton court , music room and an open gym. The mess food is really good and you get accustomed to it . Hostel registration done right after your seat is confirmed and you will get the notification from the college.
Admission
Getting into NIT is simply based on your JEE Mains Score which is conducted every year twice one in January and other one in April . And to get into NIT Jalandhar you a really good percentile and a good jee score . Since my rank in JEE Mains was approximately 18K (98.9%) so I was having many options to apply for including NIT Allahabad , NIT Jaipur , NIT Rourkela etc . but was not getting a very good branch as my inclination was towards tech-industry ans coding was my main motive.
Faculty
Teacher to student ratio is 1:10 . The professors and teachers are highly approachable and always welcomes our doubts. Personally , I like Mr. Simranjit Sir from IT department and Mr. Arun Rathore sir from Electrical Engineering Department . Teachers are expert in their respective fields and the curriculum is finished well before the exams so that the students can prepare themselves for the exam . Exams are moderately - tough and conducted in two phases - mid-semesterand end-semester .
Night Life
Specially for the first year students timings are little strict . For boys hostels , the timing is from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00p.m and same applies for the girls . But from second year timings arevery flexible and one can roam around at any point of time in day. We have a dedicated gym for the gym-enthusiasts and we also have variuos cafes suchas NESCAFE,VERKA, DOMINOS and SNAKKERS .
