Remarks
I was fortunate to be accepted into two colleges- Mata sundri College through CUET and Kasturi Ram College, however I chose to pursue my ba English honours at due SOL because I wanted to balance academics with work experience.Unlike traditional colleges DU SOL offers flexibility in terms of study ,which allows me to work part time and gain practical experience. The admission process is relatively straight forward with a focus on online registration and document submission. While Mata sundri and Kasturi Ram both offer create academy environment I felt DU SOL would give me the chance to build my resume while completing my degree over the next 3 years this flexibility was the key factor in my decision.
Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the BA English honours curriculum at DU SOL as quite comprehensive and relevant specially for students interested in literature and language. The course covers a wide range of literary period genres and critical theories which helps build a strong foundation in English studies, however at times the material can feel a bit outdated or digit and more contemporary text or modern pedagogical approaches could be included. Overall it's a solid curriculum that prepares you will for further studies or a career in writing teaching or media.
Fees and Financial Aid
As a third year BA English honour student and at DU SOL I pay and annual fees of 8320 however if you miss an exam like I did last semester due to health issued the fees for the next year increases. This year I have to pay 9220 because I was absent for one of my exams due to health issues and will be reappearing next semester. The extra fees is a penalty for missing the exam. While DU SOL offers affordable education, it's important to be aware of such fees hikes if you miss an exam for any reason.
Campus Life
Since due SOL is a distance learning program there is no traditional campus life like in regular colleges, however the online platform makes the academic experience smooth and flexible the portal is easy to use and I appreciate the option to retake online quizzes, the best score counts which reduces stress and helps improve performance, while there aren't many social events or clubs ,the focus on academics allows me to manage my studies along side work the flexibility of this setup works well for me as it let me gain real world experience while earning my degree
Faculty
The faculty at DU SOL is generally approachable one of the teachers are particularly like is Akanksha Sharma who is helpful and responsive to student queries as for the exams they are manageable if you study consistently if you put in the effort they are not to difficult however if you don't prepare they can be challenging over all the experience has been positive which supportive faculty and exams that are fair if you are diligent in your studies.
Night Life
The campus is in a safe location and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby which makes for a fun outing after classes the surroundings area offers great spots to hangout with friends and relax it's a good balance of safety convenience and places to unwind.
