Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because Metallurgy is the new future of upcoming world. It helps to make material which used in many applications such as aerospace, industry, day-to-day life, etc. The curriculum covers fundamental concepts in physical metallurgy, material science, and material processing techniques. There are some areas that need to improve such as collaborations with industries that could expose students to real-world challenges and facilitate internships and industry projects. Exams are typically scheduled at the end of each semester along with assignment submission and lab test, which are challenging to manage.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies such as JSW, Delloite, Tata Power, Bitwise, Aditya Birla Group, Infosys, Aqua Green, etc come to campus. Their average package differs from 3LPA to 6LPA. Some companies ask CGPA of more than 6 while other asks for 8. I'll be pursuing an M.Tech after getting a B.Tech Degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
For regular scheme Tuition Fees: 12000 Univ. Caution Fees: 2500 Admission Fee: 250 Univ. Development Fees: 7000 Training and Placement Fees: 5000 Lab Maintenance Fees: 1500 For Self Financing: Tuition Fees: 45000 Univ. Caution Fees: 3000 Admission Fees: 250 Training and Placement Fees: 4000 Lab Maintenance Fees: 3000 VSSUT offers various scholarships to meritorious students and students from financially weaker sections of society.
Campus Life
Samavesh is the technical fest while Vassaunt is the cultural fest. They were both held in May. The Library Facility is good. Books, Magazines, Journals, etc present there. You can take anything and study inside the library during studying hours. Classrooms are well equipped along with smart boards. Sports(Illumina) happened before the fest. Sanskar Kendra, a school for underprivileged students is run by students of VSSUT. There are many Technical clubs such as Aerotech, Robotics, Enigma, IIC, etc as well as cultural clubs such as Vibranz, Souls, Emotica, and AVC.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is good. Meal quality is average. you get breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, snacks in the evening, and dinner at night. Hostels are affordable. Hostel registration can be done during admission. Near college, PG or rented room is available for boys.
Admission
I have applied to OUTR, Bhubaneswar, IGIT, Sarang, and VSSUT, Burla. I got a confirmed admission from all three colleges but I chose VSSUT because it has an NIRF ranking of 151. Also, it has so many technical and cultural clubs from which I can enhance my skills as well as gain experience while working on many projects. No, I didn't get any rejection from another college. You can get admission to VSSUT through JEE or OJEE exam. You must secure 60% in your intermediate. The cut-off for different branches will be different. To get admission to VSSUT you need to do OJEE counselling.
Faculty
Faculty-to-student ratio is 1:4. Our HOD Prof Sushant Kumar Badjena is one of the best faculty. He encourages the students to participate in various programs to enhance their skills. Also, he examines each and every student's progress thoroughly. No such faculty is there, whom I dislike. There are two semesters in each year and two exams in each semester. One Mid sem and the other End sem. In total, there are four exams every year. Mid-Sems are quite easy as compared to the End sem. On average 10-12 students fail to clear the exams. Exams questions are 90%-95% relevant to the course curriculum.
Night Life
After class students mainly hang out in the cafeteria. The library facility is also good. After classes, you can go library and study there. There are five girls hostel while six boys hostel. There is in time of 6.30 pm for girls hostel while 8.00 pm for boys hostel. The gym and study room are there in the hostels. Hangout places inside colleges are the Cafeteria, in front of the administrative block. Outside the college Kirba, Hanuman mandir.
