- The college has good sports faciltiy having a futsal ground, kho-kho ground several cricket turfs and several badminton and table tennis courts. Competitions are organized for the students regularly to keep them engaged them in sports activities.
- The buildings are well placed and interconnected, rooms are air conditioned.
Dislikes
- Students living in outside hostel face problems as they miss out on certain current activities going on inthe campus as van service is not available all the time.
- The mess food is not good, caterers are changed every 5-6 months.
Course Curriculum Overview
The timing of examination and quizzes is perfect based on the difficulty level. The curriculum is aligned perfectly with the course. The only problem us that they start from the basics which is not needed. I would suggest that they could remove the basic topics and add topics more real world oriented
Internships Opportunities
I dont know much about internship as it has been only 3 months here but I know that you can get internship in your 2nd year if you your work or project is good companies also hire interns during the placement season.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the third year itself. In this placement season more than 90 percent of the eligible students got placed in several companies. The highest and average are yet not known. Several companies visited the campus with prominent ones being Microsoft, Dell, Xerox, Flipkart and more including several startups. After getting a degree if I am able to land a job the ok otherwise I will start my preparation for the defence sector or civil services.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have to pay 3,15,000 in total for 1st year out of which i have already paid half of it in the first semster. The tution fees per semester is 157500, i had to pay 10000 as registration and security deposit. Hostel and mess fees have to be paid together which was 110000 for me, 65000 hostel fees for 3 seater non ac room and 45000 mess fees. This fees is paid on a per year basis. Payment process is transparent and nothing is hidden from you. The college doesnt asks for any other charges. The specialization courses like mine have same semester fees. If a student has secured more than 80 percent in 12th boards then the college gives scholarship to the particular student which is 35000 per year for the first year. To continue getting the scholarship you need to get more than 8cgpa from second year onwards.
Campus Life
SOA cup a sports event is held in December in which students from different SOA campuses participate in various sports activites. Cricket and other sports tournament are held every 1 or 2 months inside the ITER campus. There is a 4 floor library building for the students to study and they can also borrow and read book there. There are several cultural and technical clubs for the students like there are several coding clubs like Google Developer Community club, GeekforGeeks club and there is IRC the robotics club and several other cultural and literary clubs.
Hostel Facilities
I live in a 3 seater non ac room which is spacious to be true it has 3 cupboards with 3 shelves each and 3 study tables with chairs in some rooms there are hangers pre fitted by the previous living students. The hostel is quiet affordable and the pricing is genuine along with mess fees. The mess menu contains both veg and non veg items. Ealier there was different menu for each week in a month but now only a single menu list is followed every week. Since the caterers have changed the qualoty of food and taste has increased a lot earlier there were several complains.
Admission
I had also applied for Chandigarh University in Mohali for a BE degreen in CSE(AI and ML). I got admission there based on their online test CUCET. But I had to choose my college over CU because upon going there i realised that the university was far from the main city and also the environment inside the college is more shifted towards fun and parties which didn't align with my personal life. I had also given IMU examination and secured an AIR 307 but because of i was underweight i couldn't make it. To get admission in ITER you need to give the SAAT examination conducted by SOA you can also get admission through JEE MAINS percentile like I got and then there is a stray vacancy round at the last in the month of august to fill the vacant leftover seats.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is very good with 5 teacher on small sized batches ranging from 50-70 students. There are few teachers that are very strict like my Maths and UHV teacher. But there teachers like the Universal Physics and Mechanics teacher, Applied Computational Thinking teacher and ICP teacher . With my favorite being the UPM teacher, he teaches good, is funny. Quizzes are held twice in a semester. There are mid term semester examination of 30 marks held in the middle of semester and then there is end semester examination of 60 marks and lab exams too. In the first year the exam difficulty is easy to moderate but 2nd year onwards it is between moderate and hard.
Interview Experience
No, since my admission was done on the basis of jee mains so i didn't need to give any kind of written test or interview but yes if you dont have jee mains rank then you can give saat exam which is an online examination.
Night Life
Since my hostel is outside the campus so we dont have much facility but we have a cricket ground where we play after our dinner and can play upto 10.30pm. Inside the campus there is a whole building dedicated to dining where students can spend time and chill and enjoy indoor games. There is a park inside for the students to chill. Outside the campus there are several food courts nearby, gyms and all other shops. There is also a famous art and history museum nearby which has free entries for the students. If you are staying outside the canpus then you can roam in your locality, it is very safe there are mostly families living there so it is quiet peaceful specially on my side. But if you are inside the campus then you aren't allowed to go outside after 8.30pm and to the canpus after 8.30 pm you need toshow your id card.
