Course Curriculum Overview
I was always intrigued by space and planets so it has been a dream to study about them. Amrita being a huge university, has hugely helped in providing the right basic courses which are necessary for my post graduation. The course is very relevant and is taught in a very well structured manner. The complete timeline of the course is hectic but if you are regular then everything goes on smoothly.
Placement Experience
Placements are a major part of Amrita. Students starts getting placement offers from 7th semester itself. A lot of companies visit amrita for the the creme layer of students but there are plenty mass recruitment companies also. Being an aerospace student, getting a good placement after bachelors is difficult so, most of the students opt for higher studies. I opted out of the placement pool as my aim is set for a masters degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am paying 3LPA as tuition dees. Normal fees is 2.5LPA but with management quota it increases to 3LPA. There are different scholarship slabs where the fees decreases with each slab. lowest fees is 1.5 LPA.
Campus Life
Amrita has a very vibrant social life. There are pleanty of clubs to choose from. Amrita has clubs which has won competitions in international events and also there are clubs which are humanitarian. Amrita's infrastructure is something to be talked about. All the classes have smart boards and mic facility. Labs are very well maintained and instruments in labs are of highest quality. Library has a huge online reserve from which a student can borrow anything. Also if you forget to return a book then the late fees is such minimal that it does'nt affects your pocket much.
Hostel Facilities
There are 8 hostels for boys and 3 for girls. For the first 3 years, we have 4 sharing rooms and final year you get a single accomodation room. Rooms are decent and very well maintained. Washrooms are cleaned twice a day and are hygenic. Mess food is not very good. If you come from north INdia, it would be very difficult to get accoustomed to south Indian food. Hostel registration can be done directly from student portal. For PG students, there is a different hostel and there flats available outside campus for accomodation too.
Admission
I applied for 2 colleges which are Amrita and PEC. I chose Amrita over PEC as it stood way up in the NIRF ranking tables. For admission in Amrita, there are 2 ways. One from JEE Mains score and other from Amrita's own entrance exam which is AEEE. Most of the courses related to engineering are available in coimbatore campus. BAsed on the scores you get in entrance exams, you will get the preffered course.
Faculty
Every batch gets a class advisor who is a faculty from the department itself. Most of the faculties are approachabe and you can meet them whenever you want but with some faculty members, an appointment is required. There are a lot of exams considering both internals and end sem exams. Most of the exams are set an average difficulty and it is easy to pass in most of the subjects.
Night Life
There is NO night life in amrita. Students can have fun in their hostels but it is not permitted to go out of the hostels after 10 P.M. There are 3 gyms, 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 2 badminton courts, a 400m track for running, a football pitch, 2 Tennis courts and a cricket ground. So for physical activities there is plenty. There are 3 canteens out of which one is pure veg and the other two serves non-veg.
