What Students Say
Likes
- The senior-junior bond is very good in our college. Seniors are dedicated to help juniors in developing skills, mentoring them about academic and non-academic stuff as well.
- Schedule of our college is pretty flexible and very less hectic compared to other IIITs or private colleges. Students have ample amount of time to work on there skills.
- Professors are friendly and cooperative with students. They don't give unnecessary assignments or projects to burden students.
Dislikes
- There are less active clubs compared to other well established colleges.
- We have to borrow sports facilities with MANIT as we don't have our own campus.
- College wi-fi is quite slow and computer Labs are not as good as they should've been for a college of national importance.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course simply because i was interested in how everything in tech works behind the system. The curriculum is close to real world applications. We have core cs subjects like DSA, OOPS, CN, OS, DAA and many more subjects that have direct relation with our field. One area that can be imporved in the Course curriculum is we don't have industry visits from our college to companies that we would work in like BITs students have. One semester is 4.5 months long in our college and after one month of commencing of a sem mini test happens, after one month mid sem exams happen. Practicals happen a week or two before end sem exams. And these exams are easy to pass, like even if you start studying a week before end sem exams you would still be able to pass them with decent grade.
Internships Opportunities
On Campus internship opportunites are not so good compared to well established colleges. Paypal took 4 students for sde internship at an stipend of 1 lac pm from 24 batch. You are allowed to do find and do internships on your own in 1st and 2nd year but will have to manage attendance also. In 3rd year teachers are cooperative if you are doing internship.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus placements from 5th Semester (Internships and PPOs) Top companies that visit our college are Amazon, Flipkart, Paypal, Samsung, Adobe, Qualcomm, GEP and ,any more. Highest package for 21-25 batch is given by Atlassian - 85LPA to one student ( placements are ongoing) Average package for 20-24 batch was around 13LPA with a placement percentage of 70% despite the recession. So the college provides opportunities from its side. I personally would like to take placement from my college and study designing in future if i got enough time.
Fees and Financial Aid
So for my particular batch (BATCH 22-23) total Academic Fees is 6.75 Lacs (1.8 Lacs for 1st year and 1.64 Lacs for 2nd,3rd and 4th year). Tution Fees - 135000 Development Fee - 12000 Caution Money - 10000 (Only in First Year) And multiple other charges like examination fee, wefare fund, etc. For BATCH 24-25 total Academic Fees is 10.2 Lacs(2.7 Lacs for 1st year and 2.51 Lacs for 2nd,3rd and 4th year) Tution Fees - 216000 Maintainence Fee - 12000 Development Fee - 14400 And multiple other small charges One Time Admission Fee is - 18840 You can visit Admission section of College's website for detailed Fee structure and hostel Fees (varies according to the hostel you opt for). There is no such category based reservation in Fees. It is same for General,SC-ST and OBC. You can avail Central NSP Scholarship or Scholarship of your particular state if you want to but college does not provide any scholarship from there side on basis of your academic performance in college.
Campus Life
We had our 1st Edition of Annual Techno cultural fest NIIMACK last year in October which was a very successful event and we recently had our 3rd successful annual sports fest SPORLUMINA in 2nd Week of October this year. We do not have our own campus so library and sports facilites are shared with MANIT. Classrooms are Non-AC and is equipped with smartboards. We have an active cultural club - ARZOO. An active dev club - AXIOS An active competitive coding club - CODAME (by far the most successful club) And multiple other clubs like LUMINA,E-CELL,etc.
Admission
You have to go through JOSAA and CSAB Special round counselling to get into IIIT Bhopal and clear the cutoff in your category in the councelling. Since i was convinced that i will take admission in a IIIT so NITs, IITs and other private colleges were out of contention. For my rank the IIITs that were in consideration were IIIT Pune, Surat, Guwahati, Bhopal, Nagpur, Una and Ranchi. I was given IIIT Ranchi Cse in all the 6 Josaa Rounds and then in CSAB R1 was given IIIT Una and in the last Round i got IIIT Bhopal IT. Pune,Guwahati and Surat were higher in priority but my rank was just not enough for their Cse cutoff. Nagpur's fee was very high so i had lept it below Bhopal Una and Ranchi. Ranchi is far from my city (Bhopal) so it was mmy 3rd priority. Among Bhopal and Una I gave priority tio Bhopal simply because it is my hometown, placements here are very good in comparision to Una.
Faculty
Faculty to Student Ratio is around 1:30. Faculty to student relationship is pretty good. Faculties are cooperative, friendly and easily approachable. One faculty that i like is newly appointed Chandrabhan Patel sir. He's young, dedicated and loves his subject ( he's from Electronics and Communication background). There are 4 exams in a semester- Mini test, mid exams, practicals and End sem exams. Exams are easy to pass and relative grading is used. They are very much relevant to our curriculum and only 4-5 students in our batch of 75 gets a back in a particular subject.
