Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course that I choose is btech in mechanical engineering I choose it because I love to learn about machines and how they work. The curriculum prepares very well for real world application because there happens many practical things they cocenterate on practical knowledge. The area for improment is that sometimes the student don't have classes and they are free at that time so they need to make the time table properly so that there will be not any free period for long time for about 2hr other than break period. The frequency of eam is good there happens exam in every 6 month and its enough for a student to prepare for it.

Internships Opportunities

3

The companies like Tata and some indian companies offer internships and the mechanical and civil branch students have many chances to get internships offered by the companies. Some work like working in the company as a mechanical engineer. Otherwise college say that the student should find their own company and do it by their own and last give the certificate to college otherwise they ask the students to come to college.

Placement Experience

3

From 7th semester students are eligible for campus placements. Many companies like Tata visited and offers made by them is about 4lakh or more than it sometimes. The highest and package is about 8lakh rupees. Only 10 percent students get placements. My plan after graduation is to make my own business or work as a mechanical engineer. Many students choose to study GATE or apply for govt jobs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of 1st semester in GCET Jammu is ?23390 and also hostel fee is about ?20000 for 6 month. Also there are some schemes in college to help those students who can't afford fees. And for those whose one of the parents is not alive or both. Also students can fill the scholarship of NSP those whose parents income is less than 250000.And average semester fee is aaround ?18000.

Campus Life

4

There are so many programs that held in my college like Induction program for new students to make them familiar with the college campuses. It happens for about 2 to 3 weeks. Also other fetivals are also happens like the diwali fest is on 30 november. All yhe books are present in the library that you need for your academics and you can take it to home also for some days . There is also good facility in the classroom like there is Smartboard in classrooms and also there. All sports offered by the college the college also prepare you for inter college competition that held. There is also e-gaming clubs or students are sellected for e-gaming competition. There are many student portals or groups that help other students to take part in other social things or groups like Smart India Hackathon are made.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is very good they provide us with a room for 3 students in 1st year and after it they give us a room for each students. The quality of meal is good but sometimes the food make by them is not good and also they don't give any non-veg food gor us. A student should register itself in hostel when he is taking admission they ask them whether he want to live in hostel or not. But also there is no hostel facility for girls in the college till now. The building for the girls hostel is made but still it take times.

Admission

I apply for all other colleges in J&K and I choose yhis because of the education provide by this college and also the fees is very low as compare to other college. It is also about 30 years old college. I get rejected in SKUAST Kashmir because I fail to take good marks in the exams due which other students were selected rather than me. The admission of our college is happen through the JKCET exam conducted by JKBOPEE the cutoff is about 1000 position because there are some students who prefer those college near to his home and also for st, sc, rba, or other category students its cutoff is very low. The eligibility for ad. Admission is that student must give the JKCET exam.

Faculty

5

The faculty members are very good and they are very cooperative with the students. They help all student for any preparation and give students a chance to learn important skills that will help them in future. The faculty to student ratio is about 1:20. The name of the faculties that I like are Anita Brar mam because she is very active and teach students chemistry easily and students learn all things teach by her very fast, another faculty member I like is Ambika mam as she is a good mathemtician and help students to solve math problems and also Raman sir is the another faculty member that help students in taking part in NSS programs also there are many faculties in the college that are good in teaching. There is not any faculty that I can't like because till now all the faculties do their job perfectly. There are two exams happen per year of 2 semesters and some students fail to pass some subjects because of their less interest in it. The exams are not that much hard to pass. The course curriculum is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
