Course Curriculum Overview

2

As it is an Institute of National Importance and not a university, the curriculum and syllabus are prepared by our teachers themselves. The certificate does have value when you go for higher studies. In psychology in particular, I think the curriculum could be a bit more relevant by including statical analysis methods like SPSS. Also the institute doesn't offer any practical exposure of any sort. There should be field works and real life case studies integrated into the curriculum.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't get any scholarships or financial aid. The fees for the 1st semester, 2 nd semester, 3rd semester and 4th semester are 13700 Rupees, 7450 Rupees, 12850 Rupees and 7450 Rupees respectively. There are a number of scholarships, National Scholarship portal provides scholarship to 10000 pg students in India every year based on merit. In the first semester fee of 13700, 5000 is tution fee, 5000 is caution deposit, 2000 is lab fee, 200 is medical insurance, 500 is sports fee, 1500 is university development fund, 450 is placement activity fund, 500 is studen welfare fund, 500 is Library fee, 2000 is amenities fee and 200 is alumni association fee. There is no management seats in this institution.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is very poor in this institution. As I said the campus is very small so you will get bored very easily. There is no fests in college. There is just a freshers party every year and regional celebrations, such as onam, Navarathri etc. There is a student council and the Mess is run by a students committee, called Student Mess Management Committee with regional representatives form each state. There is a single sports day every year, other than that there is no platform to showcase our talents. The library is huge with 3 floors but it is not open on Sundays and National holidays but it is open till 12 PM. The institution also has subscriptions of various Research Journals which you have free access to. Every class room is fitted with a projector.

Hostel Facilities

4

Boys hostel is two sharing bedrooms, with a common bathroom in each floor. They provide 1 bed , cot, table and chair for each person. New girls hostel is identical to this but old girls hostel has 3 sharing rooms with an attached bathrooms. The hostel has a gym and study area. Hot water is not available, sometimes there is water shortage. The menu has non veg twice a week. Also egg is available twice a week. There has been reports of worms being found in hostel food. The registration for hostel will be open online once your admission is confirmed. For breakfast you will get dosa, idly, allo poratha etc. Dinner is usually roti. Almost everyone will get hostel rooms. There isn't any good PGs available nearby.

Admission

Admission is soley based on your CUET PG score. I am a general category student, and I got 244 in psychology in CUET PG 2024 out of 300. The cut off for general category in this institution for this year was around 225. I had applied to Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Pondicherry University and I didn't get into any of these as their cut offs were too high. I did get into Central University of Punjab, Central University of Haryana and Central University of South Bihar. The admission process is entirely online, you only have to verify your documents in person when you come to college. I didn't select Central University of Punjab or Haryana as it was too far from my house. RGNIYD is also a Institute of National Importance so this lead me to choose this college. Once you get your CUET PG score, you have to apply to different colleges with your course, there was no application fees for RGNIYD.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is about 1 : 16. The faculty are all very well qualified with PHDs in their respective fields. You have 2 internal exams in one semester along with seminar and assignment. My Hod Dr Suresh Sundaram has one of the most monotonous voice I have ever heard. His is class is very boring and not interactive at all. The course curriculum is relevant as it places an emphasis on cracking NET. All the teachers are very approachable and nice. The language of instruction is in english, no teacher speaks any regional language.

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi University - [DU] | Master of Arts [MA] (Psychology)

It's curriculum was more focused on cracking NET and as I live in Kerala , this college was near to my home.

Placement Experience:

From the last previous semester, students can avail themselves of campus interviews. Students who have Harriers are not given opportunities because it's in the companies criteria. Cognizant, Zoho, Infosys, Wipro. Every year at least 10 students get selected. Average is 10,000-15,000 per month 10-15% of students getting placed. I plan to study for competitive exams like UPSC.
