Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum consists of over 15 different streams in the design industry. It is very flexible. The curriculum involves teaching practical learning along with industry internship experiences, getting on-hand training from experts. The classes are very less and it is mostly self learning. There needs to be improvement in the teaching pattern. The exams are easy to cope with and there is plenty of time to complete each project.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in the final semester,.i.e, semester 8. Different companies dealing with various streams visit colleges, providing a number of offers. For example, Reliance, Titan, Samsung and other smaller companies depending on the vacancies. The average package would be 3,00,000 - 6,00,000 and the highest would be 17,00,000- 18,00,000. Almsot 30% - 50% students get placed and get an average package. I plan to pursue my masters after the degree.

Campus Life
There are annual meets , called Spectrum and Converge, which helps the students showcase their talents in cultural activities or sports. There is a fest organised by the students of NIFT Kannur, Yugam, which is a fun event involving outsiders as well as students. There are other competitions in the college as well. The facilities are dependent on the department and labs and other technical instruments are provided. There are student-run clubs that conduct activities from time to time.
Admission
I had applied to different courses, like law or architecture. But I didn't pursue the above said courses as NIFT gave me a better opportunity to dive into different streams and more interesting perspectives. There was no rejection from any college. There is an entrance exam for B.Des- which consists of 2 written tests - creative aptitude test and genetal aptitude test, followed by a situation test and then admission counselling. The cut-off rank for general category would be under 2000.
Faculty
The faculties are approachable and friendly. There are a minimum of 5 faculties in every department for over 100 students. The graphic design faculty was great and spent a lot of hours taking classes. Some faculties don't rely on theoretical methods. There would be 1 jury at the end of every semester. The juries are relatively simple. Some students may fail due to incompetence or timely submission. The curriculum is relevant with the industry standards
