What Students Say
Likes
- Classes are well organised and neat. There are few AC classrooms that are really good.
- Professors are good enough to teach the subjects and do not stress the students
- Obtaining a good cgpa is quite easy as the internal marks out of 100 is 70
Dislikes
- Bad dressing sense from the students. And 5 percent of the people speak English in the college.
- Events and programs are not conducted frequently.
- Important subjects like data structures in computer science are not taught in depth.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since the present trend and jod opportunities was high in computer science engineering I had to choose it but in this college the knowledge provided for that course is not much. There are much more skills that are needed to be taught in the course. The curriculum is very old that is of very less use in present. The faculties need to be updates the course content that is followed also has to be updated for improvements. Mid exam is conducted int he middle of each semester.
Internships Opportunities
I don't know much about the internships but I know that they are provided in the 6th sem. Few internships provide stipend and few don't. Few roles for internships are software developer, wed developer, software engineer etc.
Placement Experience
The placements in our college are quite good form the past, but in present it's quite less in computer science due to recession. Companies visited: Oracle, TCS, Accenture and many startups. Each company takes around 30 to 40 students. Highest package: 20 LPA and lowest is around 3.5 LPA. Almost 70% of the students get placed. My plans after degree is to get a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got admission through KCET, where the fee for KCET was 91000 and college fee was 31000, total fee close to 121000. This remains same for me for the 4 years. But the KCET and college fee has been increased to a total of 150000 per year for new admissions. Admission through management would cost around 300000 per year.
Campus Life
As I said, the number of events conducted are very less. I don't know the reason for it but every 4 years, once a big event is conducted, which is for 2 days. And the the remaining events even if conducted are quite small. The library is quite big and almost all the books are available and can also be rented. All the classes have projectors and half of the classes are AC classrooms with good ambience and a desktop. There are 2 big grounds for sports, 4 badminton courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 1 beach volleyball court, running trach and a handball court. There are quite a good number of clubs in the college that so have an impact on the student life.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are really good with good food as well. There are 5 hostel blocks where 2 are for girls and 3 for boys. Non- veg is provided 3 times a week which is good. Registration is quite simple but the fee is too high.
Admission
I had to choose this college because I got a rank of nearly 40000 in KCET and a good college for this rank was GITAM UNIVERSITY itself. There were other similar colleges like Presidency, Reva and Alliance but compared to the placemets in those colleges, our college had a higher average package. The admission process of our college includes an entrance exam called GAT where the fee is reduced from 320000 to 225000 if you are qualified. The overall admission experience for me was smooth and easy.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is 1: 40 and almost all the faculties are approachable. Few faculties that I liked are Monica Jha, Kavya, Rajesh, and Mangal Raj. Faculties that I don't like are Sankar, Chintoo Kumar, Hema, Gopal Krishna, Gayatri. There 2 exams for a semester where 1 exam is the mid exam for 30 marks and the other is the sem exam also for 30 marks. The exams are moderate, nor thought neither easy.
