Course Curriculum Overview

5

I want to study about the Animal behavior so that I choose Zoology as my subject. The teachers take classes regularly and helps in practical studies with local excursions. After every topic covered, the teacher takes a monthly class test to improve the results.

Internships Opportunities

5

As a Zoology student, we provided three types of internship as it's a part of the New NEP System 1.Alipore Zoological Garden, Kolkata - this internship is free of cost 2.ICAR-CIBA, Kakdwip - it's also free 3. Eschuary, Howrah - it's paid (2200rs) We choose the Eschuary as its the best because it teaches us how to operate different types of equipments like SEM, Centrifuge, Incubator, Spectroscopy etc

Fees and Financial Aid

4350rs per year for molecular biology in minor, but if you have chemistry in minor then the fees will be 4550rs per year which includes lab fees, tution fees and library fees. Semester examination fees of 1250rs will need to pay directly to the university Swami Vivekanand scholarship and minority scholarship are available

Campus Life

4

There's a freshers welcome party, Saraswati puja, Basanta Utsab and a yearly cultural fest is organised every year in our college hallroom. Other than that there's no other fest available. Sometimes some inter department cricket mathches held but it's rare and no one participates.

Admission

I applied in Behala college for Zoology but the transportation is much much difficult so I didn't take admission, I also applied in Bangabasi College but the seniors told that the quality of the Department is not much better So I finally take admission in Dum Dum Motijheel College for Zoology as the Metro or the local train is always available for my college and the course fees is also low compared to the colleges under Calcutta University

Faculty

5

All the Zoology dept, chemistry dept. and Botany dept is good as they take regularly classes and provide all the necessary notes and pdf. Even if they unable to take any classes, they conduct online classes so there's no chance of getting any problems. There are two semester exams in a year with monthly internal class tests, in case of Molecular biology there's only semester, no internal exam is conducted.

Other Applied Colleges

Behala College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Zoology)

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
