Course Curriculum Overview

3

Our course curriculum is good but needs some improvements. Like I understand that in first year all subjects like electric, maths, physics, civil are taught in every college and our college will do the same. Fine. But the problem is that in third year subjects like Applied material science are added which make no absolute sense for a CSE student. Things like these need to be taken care of. Else the course is good. Courses like Os,DBMS, Computer network,Computer Organization and architecture, data structures and algorithms, web development, data analysis, Information and security, Machine learning, Artificial intelligence, etc are a part of course curriculum that help in preparing a student for placement.

Placement Experience

3

The placements used to be very good in this college. But due to recession, the placements have taken a little hit. Companies are still visiting the college and offering good packages too but the numbers have reduced a lot. Students become eligible for placements in their 7th semester i.e. in their fourth year. Students are required to do an internship in their third year. The highest package last year was around 30 lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

So the fees a general student with no deduction pays changes every year. The academic fees keeps on increasing after every year. The academic fees for my batch ranges from 102000-130000 per semester. Fees keeps on increasing for freshers. Students with army background get upto 20% deduction in fees. I had paid a security amount of 10000 rupees. 50000 was a confirmation fee, that was added to our first Semester fees. As I was admitted during COVID, our batch got a 10% relaxation in fees for first two semesters. The fees for 2024 batch has reached around 140000 per semester. We pay a jyc fee of 1200 that is used to organize events, tournaments, etc. All fees like development, lab fee are included in our Academic fees. Hostel fees is 80000 that includes accommodation, food, laundry, etc.

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of annual and technical festivals that take place in our college. Every student is required to pay a fee of 1200 inr that helps in organising these fests. The main fest of the college is called Le Fiestus that is 3 day long where famous singers, comedians and other artists perform and is very grand. Clubs like IEEE, ACM keep on conducting hackathons, coding competitions and other technical fest. Social life of college is good with nice places to go with your friends.

Hostel Facilities

4

The facilities Provided in the hostel room are two tubelights, three charging ports, one ceiling fan,one table and chair, one bed with mattress. Almirah and cloth hangers are provided too. There are attached toilet and bathrooms in every floor and are cleaned everyday. A Google form is given to students and are asked to provide their details and choose whether they want a hostel or not. 80000 is per semester fees for hostels that includes accommodation food and laundry. The food quality is good and the quantity is also good. Students can take unlimited food. Sometimes the food can be bad though. Menu keeps on repeating with same items, that can be a problem.

Admission

Actually I had applied for only two colleges. One was Juit,my current college and second one was Chandigarh University. I was offered a seat by both of them but decided to choose Juit over Customer because the strength of cu was very much and I was not comfortable with the location. Juit also has better placements than cu and since Juit has less students, therefore the probability of getting placed increases. I also have known people working in Juit. The environment of Juit is also better

Faculty

4

The faculty members here are good and supportive. But some faculty members are really bad who enjoy causing trouble to students for no reason. A common observation is that faculty members who are highly qualified and knowledgeable are quite humble, sweet and always up for helping students. But the less knowledgeable faculty members are quite arrogant and rude. Overall I had a good experience with the faculty members during my tenure and got a lot to learn from them. But 1-2 faculty members really got on to my nerves. They were more concerned about attendance and all instead of providing students with something valuable. But still I would say Faculty of the college is good. Faculty student ratio is also good and would be around 1:10 in CSE department. The exams in our college are quite easy according to me. I cleared all my exams by studying one day before. The exam structure is Test1, test2 and then finally test3. The first exam is for 15 marks, second for 25 and third for 35. There is a teacher assessment for 25 marks and students then are evaluated out of 100 marks,i.e the t1+t2+t3+ta. Usually many students are able to clear the exams as passing marks is 30 out of 100.

After fifth semester you are eligible for campus placements. IBM, Cognizant, Algo8, Polaris and CITRIX and over 5000 offers are made. Highest package 42 lpa in CSE program by Algo8 and average package of CSE program is 5 lpa and for MBA is 7.5 lpa. percentage of students getting placements is 45%. My plan after getting degree is make your skill more better and good for my dream companies like google, amazon and microsoft and crack their interviews.

Students can sit for job drives from the 7th term. In our college, firms like TCS, Wipro, HCL, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra visit. Most jobs are in coding, support, or test fields. The top pay was around ?10 LPA for a dev job. The usual pay is 3–4 LPA for most jobs. Nearly 60–70% of CS/IT students get jobs. Core jobs are less for other fields. My goal is to work for 1–2 years in tech and then go for higher study or skill-based role in top firm or startup.
