Dislikes

- The non teaching staff sometimes are very rude to the students that it's a little hurtful at times.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am very much in the study of living organisms which lead to my decision of choosing the subject of zoology as my honours subject. The course not only teaches us about the living organisms existing today but also the ones that once existed on this planet. We also learned about how this organisms evolved to be the ones we are seeing today. It is also a mixture of history and geography to get this accurate rate of evolution for every species and organisms living today. I would like to suggest a new training system for the teachers to improve their overall knowledge of other related topics including in the study of zoology like history and geography, not only the core subjects. The timing and frequency of exams are reasonable and also let us have suffice time to prepare ourselves for the examination.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm a student of BSC zoology honours. I'm in my 2nd year 4th semester. The admission fee for this year is RS 4735 and and additional RS 345 for the generic course in which I take botany. The lab fees are Rs 200 per core subject witha total of Rs 800. The admission fee for the courses of bachelor of arts is a little lower than the the courses of bachelor of science honours. Since they didn't have many practical classes so they didn't pay any lab fees that's the reason for the lower fees rate. The minimum attendance for a student to be eligible to appear in semester exams is 75 percent of attendance. Comparing to other private colleges, the affordability rate is relatively higher as it reach cross 10000 Rs for a full year of course. We got many opportunities to apply for a scholarship in our college. The amount recieved is based on the performance of our last latest exams. The scholarship amount started from Rs 5000 up to the mark of about Rs 100000 for various categories and scholarship schemes. The amount is also different for students for those staying in hostel or college boardings.
Campus Life
Our college held many functions and events in each and every year. Some of the functions include teachers day which is held either on 5th of September or the 5th of October, the foundation day of our college, and other events like world environment day, cancer day, AIDS prevention day, most of which is observed in our college auditorium with our principle madam on the dice. The classrooms are equipped with a whiteboard, a projector etc for study purposes. Although our college library is small, we can find almost all the materials and books we need for our respective courses . Our college also runs an election every year for the post of general secretary, finance secretary, girls' common room, etc. but in my opinion, this affects the daily life of students who run for the vote as many other students seek help from them leading to their low attendance in classes.
Admission
I applied for the GP women's college before I apply for the college I'm currently studying in. I opted for the college I'm studying is because it is closer to my house and is convenient to walked also if there is no public transportation going nearby. Until now, I didnt get rejected from any college I applied for. I gave up another opportunity to study of bachelor of architectural engineering because there is no college or university in our state offering this major or degree and I don't want to leave my parents again as I have in hostels since 6 grade. So, I have given a chance and applied for the standard college which is under the manipur university for the degree course of zoology instead.
Faculty
The course structure we adapt in our college is based on the national education policy, also known as the NEP. Under this system, the course of bachelor of science and arts have been added with 1 more year making it a four year course. This leads to the decrease in the master courses with 1 year left with only a year to learn and earn our degrees in masters. The faculty I likes most is the department of zoology's head of the department (hod) madam Dr. Y. Jamuna Devi. she is a very experienced teacher guiding us in every way possible. Our department has a total of 5 teaching staff and 2 lab attendants. The exam structure follows the new structure of one internal assessment test, a practical for each core subject, a home assignment, a project work and a full semester ending examination in each and every semester.
