- There is only one hostel for girls called the Swarnamoyee Girls Hostel, in which not all girls are able to get accommodation
- Water supply have to be improved and need more cleanliness.
- The college needs more cameras in some areas to increase surveillance and provide more safety
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum comprises of 19 subjects for a course of 4.5 years plus an additional year of compulsory internship. The curriculum will prepare you to become a registered medical practitioner and thrive in the outside world as a doctor. It will make you capable enough to treat patients. The course is extensive and the exams are conducted every 3 months. To pass in the exams you need to secure atleast 50 percent in the theory and practical separately
Internships Opportunities
Placements are not provided here, but they provide one-year mandatory internships. The stipend is around ? 28000-30000. Here we get to work in real hospital environment and gain tremendous experience to face the real world
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course is INR 45,000. There is also a one-time admission fee of INR 1,750. Hostel fees are typically between INR 600-700. Hostel amenities include Wi-Fi, a study table and chair, and meals. To be eligible for admission to the MBBS course at Medical College Kolkata, students must have scored at least 75% in 12th grade. Admission is based on the merit and scores of the NEET-UG exam.
Campus Life
Annual fests like Rhapsody are conducted in the college in which all the students participate whole heartedly and it is a gala affair. There is a very large library with all sorts of medical books available for students. It has a very wide area. There is also a reading room for students to sit and study in between classes. Sports and games facilities are abundant, games like chess, table tennis, carrom, football, and cricket are being regularly organised.
Admission
The reason why I applied in this college was because it is one of the best medical College in west Bengal and I applied for this college during the process of counseling and got in the first round itself. The environment of the college is immensely student friendly and the seniors make your lives a lot easier in the college
Faculty
There are enough professors in each department for giving attention to all the students. The professors are very student friendly and they are literally ocean of knowledge. There are atleast 3 semester exams in 1st and 2nd year and an additional final MB exam each year. In 3rd year part 1 and part 2, there are 2 semesters and one final MB exam at the end of the academic year
