Course Curriculum Overview

3

Some specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course was the broad nature of subjects offered that will help us to gauge our interests and then go for a specialization in our careers and further studies. The teaching methods can be better adapted towards application than just theoritical understanding. The exams from my perspective are easy to moderate.

Internships Opportunities

3

The companies that came for internship included Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Roles offered included Financial Analyst Intern and Operations Analyst intern. Stipend was 30,000 INR per month and 33,000 INR per month respectively.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students in their 5th semester and onwards become eligible for campus placements. They should also have no standing backlogs and atleast 6.5 CGPA in aggregate. So far over 8 companies have visited and made an average of about 40 offers each. After getting my degree I plan to go for an MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

year 1: 72,500 INR year 2: 72,000 INR year 3: 76,000 INR Above fees is for Bcom(Regular) and BCom(BPM) Scholarships available: Management Scholarship, Old Students Association(OSA) Scholarship Merit - cum - need based Sports Quota admissions available.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual cultural festivals include Kalotsav and Dhwani, with the former being intra-collegiate and the latter inter-collegiate. They are typically held in the months of July to September and January to March respectively. The technical or business fests include Cipher, being intra-collegiate while Chanakya is inter-collegiate. They are typically held in the months of June to July and January to February respectively. The technology in class includes an LED projector for powerpoint presentations and video showcase.

Admission

I had applied for Jain (Deemed-to-be University), St. Joseph's University, Symbiosis School of Economics, Christ (Deemed-to-be) University and Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics. I got confirmed admissions from Jain, St. Joseph's University, and Christ University. I chose this college over the others due to its reputation and the proximity to my area of residence. I got rejected from Dr BR Ambedkar School of Economics as I did not fulfill the eligibility criteria. When I had applied in 2022, the admission process was in two stages: Selection test, followed by interview and document verification. The cutoff for the test was the college's discretion. We had to have an aggregate of atleast 50% in our class 12 exams to apply. The overall admissions were smooth.

Faculty

3.5

Some of the faculty members are approachable while the others are not. While some faculty help in in person doubt solving, others expect you to get it cleared in class itself. Currently the best faculty we have is for Income Tax. Ma'am is very approachable and an excellent teacher. While the other teachers are kind, their teaching is not the best. There are two examinations : Mid-semester and End-semester. The course curriculum is still more focused on theoritical concepts rather than industry-relevant.

Interview Experience

3.5

I had written test, given to test our understanding of basic commerce concepts. This was followed by an interview to understand more about the candidate and further test their conceptualknowledge. I prepared for these rounds by going through my class 11 and 12 accounting and commerce books.

The placement cell in my college is okay they do get few good companies for campus recruitment and they guide us thoroughly how and when we should apply for placement they do conduct some sessions and bring people to guide us with everything. The percentage of students getting placement is 50 or 60 percentage. My plan after degree is to continue pursuing acca and then finding a job abroad

In our period it was prestigious to study commerce stream in our college and had good rating for the course and the for students who passed out from that college. The management had good lot of concern about the poorer section of the society and hence kept the fee structure at a very nominal level and thus help to get education for all
