What Students Say
Likes
- infrastructure and labs in aeronautical department
- the high research related opportunities because of the connection our faculty has
- the social and cultural activities and the crowd which is very welcoming
Dislikes
- strict attendance which can be annoying sometimes
- the fact that we need to pay fees for fest but other college students can attend it for free
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well spread covering the basics of a particular subject to the advanced version of it over the semesters which made me choose this course. We learn absolutely everything that is needed for a basic aeronautical engineer needs to know. The teaching is pretty strict which reminds me of school, it can be a little lenient in some cases. The exams are well timed and for me personally they are not very difficult. but considering others opinion aeronautical is not an easy course as it consists of mostly physics and maths.
Internships Opportunities
Dassault Systemes - 10k per phase DRDO - unpaid in dassaults the projects are varied, one such project is creating a digital twin of an instrument, using their software 3d experience and analysing and then optimization of it in the later stages
Placement Experience
Students become eligible from 6th semester. We get Capgemini, TCS, Lufthansa, WIPRO aerospace. the highest package was from Boeing which was 9.38lpa. Only one student got selected. Average package is 3lpa. Atleast 70% of students get placed. But most of them want to pursue masters which is also my plan.
Fees and Financial Aid
I gota seat under SNQ quota in KCET. My first year fee was 28350, it kept decreasing. my 4th year fees is 24720. I also got SSP scholarship of 18k everyyear. You just need to apply it in the ssp portal and check if you are eligible for it. mostly only KCET students are eligible. normal KCET seat for our batch was 89k.
Campus Life
We have our very own Anaadyanta which is an annual techno cultural fest. It has a wide outreach and famous artists like Neha Kakkar, Arijit Singh, Darshan Raval, Saketh and Parampara have performed over the years. We have Ecell, and every class has a smart board. The sports are excellent, football team, basketball, kabbadi, volleyball, badminton, chess, all the teams have excellent coaches and we have a turf football ground too. the sports teams are highly appreciated in our college. We have around 15 student run clubs which add so much value to our lives. I'm personally been in The literary forum which gave me so much exposure to the other college fests
Admission
Actually, I applied for only NMIT on my top priority, because compared to other colleges that offer aeronautical engineering, which firstly, only few colleges offer, NMIT has better labs, infrastructure and has guaranteed placements. They give importance to the core branches along with the software branches which is usually not the case in other universities. The admission process is easy only. You can get in through KCET, COMEDK or management. KCET is more preferable cuz the fee is affordable and the cutoff is not very high for core branches.
Faculty
I think in my department there are around 20+ faculty including the lab incharges. The faculty are very approachable and they help you in all kinds of project. They encourage and send in information regarding extra internships and projects we can pursue. Praveen sir is really knowledgeable and helps students in all aspects. In our new semester we have 2 internal exams which are not very hard to score, with the help of notes we can easily secure good marks. The course curriculum is relevant to the current industry standards as it includes necessary labs and technical skills development programs
