What Students Say

Likes

The faculty are hardworking and approachable.
The classrooms are spacious and fully furnished
There are many other activities other than academic

Dislikes

We don’t have a football ground and swimming pool
We get very few to no holidays and vacations
The 8-5 schedule is very tiring and exhausting

Course Curriculum Overview

The new CBME curriculum is followed and it is more clinical based rather than the olden times theory baded and thus it prepares us to be more competent practically. The exams are moderate to hard, depend on your preparation

Internships Opportunities

We are supposed to do a one year internship at the central referral hospital. We get around 15 thousand per month. We also have to serve a month at the Pakyong PHC giving us the opportunity to learn how its like serving in a rural area

Fees and Financial Aid

The state of Sikkim has a reservation of 80 seats where 50 seats are free funded by the government of sikkim for students holding sikkim's COI and 30 are full fees i.e, 17 laks per year. There are 70 other seats for other states

Campus Life

We have tyohar a festival, we have hustle for sports, academia for quizes and other stage activities related to academics. We have aura for cultural activities. We have college day and ither festivities like diwali are celebrated too

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are three seaters with a balcony and attached toilet. We get a bed, mattress, a cupboard, a table with cabinets and a shelf. There's a fan and almost continous water and electricity supply. The mess food is very bad

Admission

The reason i chose this college was because it was close to my home and since i took admission in the year 2021 after the pandemic had just died down my parents decided it would be safe for me to not go outside

Faculty

The faculty are pretty approachable. The ENT faculty are the best i would say. The other departments aren't bad either. We have semester wise exams. Around 10% fail to clear the exams. The curiculum is according to CBME

Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Medical Sciences (SMIMS): My Dream Medical College

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS was always my dream course. SMIMS has the highest faculty: student ratio as much as I have read about. All the faculties have specialization in their field, Mostly MD, DM, Ph.D., and also MBBS. We usually have 2 sessional exams, 1 pre-University and 1 University exam in a year, and many small formative assessments and tests throughout the year. It is quite easy to pass those exams if one is really dedicated to studies.

One of the best medical colleges

Remarks:

It's one of the best institutions to pursue your medical profession with so much good infrastructure and lab facilities for the students to learn. And yes we have our own hospital so that we can practice our medical profession.

Remarks:

My overall experience in the campus is quite good. According to me, there are some aspects on which the college can work upon or should improve. Gender discrimination in case of curfews should be taken care of. The college should provide a good platform for the student-alumni interaction. Food quality could do with a lot of improvement.
