Student's Snapshots

Campus

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The unique blend of engineering and research made me choose IISER Bhopal. Exams are mostly taken once in every month. The area of improvement can be more focus on engineering department because this is a research institute in most of the funds gets into natural science department. The course curriculum prepare the student for higher positions in academia as well as in research and corporate sector

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements are not that great and only engineering and Economics department people get placed. Last year highest package was 31 lakhs per annum and the average package was 19 lakhs per annum . The statistics are quite good because of place students opting for placements and more students going abroad for research companies like Nomura Bank and Barclays recruit from the campus. My plan after graduation is to enroll in a foreign university for masters

Fees and Financial Aid

The courier phase is around 106200. It has been increasing from last 2 years. The fees is pleated into tuition fee and other academic fees and hostel fees. The institute provides Gauri Mukherjee Scholarship for girl topper of 1st year and supports DST INSPIRE scholarship. For the students of schedule cast and schedule tribes there is no tuition fee for the entire course duration.

Campus Life

4.5

The technical fest is ARMAGEDDON which is more or less a gaming fest. The annual fest is called enthuzia which takes place around March of every year. There are several student run groups in the campus which account for the non academic well being of the students. These reduce academic stress on the students to a great extent

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities very good for single modulation but is standard for double accountation. The rooms of one almirah , one table , two charging ports , two cots and one lamp for double occupancy rooms in old hostels . The mess menu is very good and it offers three time meal day. It you also provide extra add-on in lunch and dinner on payment basis.

Admission

I also give jee mens and applied to other colleges but I choose I IISER Bhopal over them because of the unique framework of syllabus it provides in engineering sciences. The admission process is taken care of by one of the year which is decided by the joint admission council. The IISER aptitude test has to be given by the students to get into the college. The minimum eligibility criteria is 60% marks in class 12th board exam.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio depends on department concerned but is around 1:20 in the campus. I liked Dr. Haroon Lone for his unique way of teaching of practical aspect of learning. Mostly 5 exams are taken for course for semester out of which mid semester and end semester account for the highest weightage of the letter rid to be assigned to each student of the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum trains students in various research fields, including lab and theory. The course prepares a student to get either a industry position, or PhD position. The course curriculum can be improved by porividing more exposure to students who havent experienced, these fields. Exams are good, easy if youve understood the course content. These exams are based on a wide information of the topic, and are not limited to just one textbook.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I am just in my first year right now, the courses I have are fairly introductory. But since we have to study PCMB, Earth Science, Programming and a Humanities course just in the first year, it's fairly hard to manage. we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem exam and an end sem exam in each semester typically at the end of each consecutive month (4 month semester). The marking scheme, syllabus, paper pattern, time, difficulty etc are all subject to change according to the professor.

Placement Experience:

As it's a research institution, more emphasis is given to academia and research instead of placements. We have an active placement cell, but still, it's lackluster compared to engineering colleges. The average package hovers around 10 lpa, and only a handful of people get placements. Most opt for Phd or an MBA.

Mostly from 8th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements and getting preplacement offers in their applied companies. Companies like nomura Bank ,Barclays and Dr Reddy's lab have visited the campus in the past. Mostly all the students get placed because less number of student sitting for the placements. According to last year data around 31 lakhs per annum was the highest package and the average was around 10 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get into a foreign university for my higher studies.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus
