Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I got into mass media because I was really into it and I saw one of my school senior studying at SAC and all the fun activities she was doing. I would say SAC's Mass Media department really prepares you for the real world. I knew nothing when I entered college and know atleast I know I can survive in this field anyhow! The thing that they need to improve is the equipments, they have all the necessary equipments but it needs an upgrade now as we're becoming for digitalised. The course structure is completely fine because it teaches you alot about the new media also. The teachers usually do alot of practical classes so that we have a clear and better understanding. As the course is too vast and we have alot of practical assignments, sometimes the theory part remains unfinished and the students have to manage the notes somehow.

Internships Opportunities

3

I did not get much internships opportunities from college, most of them i find it by myself but yeah they did shared opportunities or experiences from which you can learn and grow. Plus they used to send students to differents events for shoots and all.

Placement Experience

3

There is a placement cell in college, and many students have got some jobs, internships and admission from other colleges / universities but I think they can improve a bit. Until and unless the students doesn't approach by themselves they don't know. Plus, they can have tie up with better companies or organisations.

Fees and Financial Aid

My course was BA Media Technologies which was under the mass media department. As it's a professional course the fees structure was a bit more than the other no professional courses. The admission fees was 29k including tuition fees, security and all. 40-42k was the fees for a year, odd semesters it's 18-19k and for even semesters 20-23k. There are few scholarships for ST students and students whose parents annual income is less than a specific amount (i forgot). Me as a student from general category didn't got any scholarships. As compared to other colleges, St. Anthony's fees structure is quite affordable, especially in a professional course like mass communication.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is average. There's not really a big campus, it's a small one but the people are very friendly. Well, I'm an introvert so did not socialize much but I really saw my friends making other friends or talking randomly to any student as if they know each other. There are different clubs, tourism, drama, media, ncc, nss, rangers and rovers and few i forgot. You can enroll to any of these clubs according to your interests, and they keep having different kinds of activities. The college life is fun though, college week, random fun food or game stalls for some kind of fundraising for events, exhibitions, dramas, and many more.

Admission

Mass media courses are very high in private colleges and I couldn't afford it or did not wanted my parents to feel a pressure. So when I say Anthony's prospectus and course structure, I decided to apply. And I'm not that interested in journalism so Anthony's does a proper balance between all the necessary knowledge you need for the field. First I got admission in Lady Keane College, Shillong, in Travel and Tourism but was not sure if I would get enough practical training so later I applied at SAC. The admission process is entrance exam and interview, if passed the exam. But in my time it was covid-19, so the admission procedure was on merit basis. (I wanted to study in Shillong because of the weather, it's the best!)

Faculty

4

I will not say any of the teachers were bad at this point of my life. They were very strict towards time and management and I didn't like that much but now as I'm working I understand it. Media Technologies course was everything about mass media, from photography to graphics designing to sound to film to art to entrepreneurship, you'll know everything by your last semester! The faculty of overall college is average because sometimes they are helpful sometimes not. Some professors are biased and some are too lame (and you HAVE TO laugh at their pj's). The exam system is semester wise, each semester we've one internal exam and one end sem final exam and in between we had tests for our internal assessment marks. And as a media student I had plenty of assignments. There's hardly a day or two without assignments.

Interview Experience

2.5

No. As I mentioned earlier, I' am from covid batch so my admissions were done in merit basis. But in general for courses like Media Technologies, Mass Communication and Video Production, English, the College conducts entrance exams. After clearing the entrance exam they conduct interviews and then clearing that you'll be enrolled.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It was not my actual mind to opt my major which is history, since it was hard to find open colleges late I had to adjust to it. It might be better since I had a habit of remembering things that are upto no use in the present or maybe better for securing jobs as it is quite in needy in these aspects. It's still not very clear in my part but it partially taught us the basics It gives us 3 hours of time per paper and it's not very different or very hard because it has been always the same pattern along with the portions

The way they prepare the question is the main reason for me to choose this college. They really provide not only bookish knowledge but also how to deal with the real world. The examination that they conduct are very reasonable because they give us the amount of time that a normal students need to be prepared for an examination. So I think it's quite reasonable and nice.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In UCC, earlier my brother and sister also studied and i could not make in Anthony's and Edmund's, so I choose this college. The allocation of college is one the best I have seen so far. It is best for those who want to be something in life because the college is little bit far from the main town and the local near this college also not allow any consumption of alcohol, drug, weed etc in the village. They even not allowed to sell them. I like this college as it is. So I don't want to comment on the improvements. The timing odlf exams is similar with other colleges, 3 hours.

NEHU syllabus is quite good I should say, especially with the introduction of the NEP(New Education Policy) Well regarding the curriculum, I would say the teachers play and important part regarding that situation. However, exams or tests are becoming quite a headache for the students compared to the duration of our courses
