What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is huge and it's all full of greenery, also as it is a reasearch College the diversity in flora and fauna is much needed.
- The people here all belong from different parts of India that helps us realise how varied different states are and even though everyone's culture is different people try to learn other cultures like their own.
Dislikes
- As I said earlier there's a lot of diverse plants and animals but that also means sometimes you can see little insects in showers and stuff so I guess it gets a little unhygienic
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always been fascinated by the researchers or innovators i have read about in books or newspapers. I have always wanted to do something that would be helpful for present and upcoming generations and there's nothing better than new innovations. The curriculum is mostly based on making us more interested in the present world and discoveries inclining us towards the world of research opening our minds to things we never thought about. There are quizez very frequently to check is everyone's getting it or not which I think is a really good way to get everyone involved.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total annual fees of the college is 94,000 from which you have to pay nearly 64,000 in the first semester. This fees includes admission fees , lab fees , mess management, medical fees, hostel charges etc. For sc/st the tution fees is none so there total annual fee come close to 30,000 something which is a really affordable amount.
Campus Life
There are a lot of diverse people so a lot of festivals and functions for example janmashtmi, Ganesh chaturthi, agomoni, diwali, durga puja and a lot more. There's a library in the campus accessible to all students which consists of all the books that are gonna be course related and even a lot of indology and fiction ones just so students can even read something out of curriculum to spend their time. The sports culture is really really good here. There are a lot of sports and events. Every student is motivated to take parts in clubs they are most interested in. There's a student-run social welfare group called ek pehel which helps to teach the poor children who can't afford to go to schools. So they can get education as well
Admission
I have applied to some medical colleges though medical line would fixate me to some particular things but research would open up a whole new world for me and iiser kolkata is one of the best research colleges in India so I choose this over studying medicine
Faculty
The faculties here are all very helpful some of them even go out of way to help students. They're are very approachable as well. I am myself am introvert it's very hard for me to ask questions in the class so we are provided to ask question in office hours or through WhatsApp or emails. For the exams, i would say they are the right amount of level students would need. The course is pretty intresting making learning easier and making exams more fun.
