IISER kolkata and its description.

If you want to study pure science then, IISER kolkata is one of the best Institute you can opt for. As it's curriculum is research based, it prepare you for real world experience. There are 2 exams per semester, mid-term and final-term. Apart from it regular quiz and test are taken every week.

Many seniors get internship in prestigious Institutes like IISc, IIT, TIFR and some even get internship outiside India in some of the best Institutes in the world. Dor internship you have to mail the professors you want to work under, citing your interest and ideas you can provide. If they find that you are useful for them , they may select you for internship. And yes, you are not paid in internship.

Students can sit for placement in their 5th year after completing the BS-MS course. Company like ITC infotech , TCS etc visit to offer placement. As iiser is a Institute mainly for research studies , not many students sit in placement, they opt for higher studies in national or in some foreign Institutes. From what i know the highest package in 2023 was 48 lpa and average package was 7 lpa.

After being here for a month, i can say that iiser kolkata offers the best environment possible for students. Me being an ST student is paying 17500 for admission and 1st sem fees, though for general it's bit high roughly around 60k. And the semester fees after 1st semester will be 8k-10k for 2nd sem and around 40k for general students. Though there are no scholarship provided by the Institute , but people securing good percentage in 12th board may apply for inspire scholarship. The Institute itself helps the students eligible for inspire scholarship in getting the scholarship.

There are many annual fests organized and participate by iiser Kolkata.Like inquivesta, the biggest fest organized by kolkata. It is a three day fest where many competitions like cosplay, quiz, crime investigation, sports etc are organized. Apart from it IISER kolkata participate in IISM ( inter INCI sports meet) and IICM(Inter INCI cultural meet) which are annual meet, participated by INCI- IISERs, NISER, CEBS and IISc. Iiser kolkata provides a various sport and cultural facilities for all of its students. Students can learn new sports and cultural activities like TT, football, kabbadi, kho-kho, basketball etc for sports and dance, arts, quiz, drama etc for cultural.

Libing in hostel is compulsory for all the BS-MS students in IISER kolkata. Basic amenities like bed, cupboard , study table, chair and mosquito nets for windows are provided. As iiser kolkata has Student monitored canteen , menu changes every day and the food quality and taste are very suitable for students. You get hostel instantly after your physical verification and registration in iiser kolkata, and the fees of it is included inthe semester fees.

I haven't applied for any other colleges as i always wanted to sthsy in IISER. As for the eligibility to apply for any iiser, you have to qualify the IAT exam (IISER aptitude test) which happens yearly. The jee and kvpy channel is now closed permanently. So, IAT is the only channel through which you can apply dor IISERs. U can further search about IAT exam in the official website.

The faculty here are very helpful, you can approach them in their office them or even after class, and ask your doubts. They solve every doubt you have, and most importantly they never judge you. Apart from professor, we have TAs who are the teaching assistant, doing their MS or phd in iiser kolkata, whom u van approach anytime for ang doubt
