Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The disciplines such as ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and MACHINE LEARNING influenced my decision to choose this course. The cirriculum prepares me well for real world applications and further academic pursuits. The teaching methods must be focused mainly on practical rather than theory. The internal exams happen once a month and then the final exams. The level of the exams is ok and you can score well if you are thorough with the topics and have tried solving previous year question papers.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

There are a lot of internship oppurtunities available in our college in both the online and offline mode. TCS offers internship,AICTE offers paid internship. Also, top IIT'S also offer paid internships. These companes and institutions hep us in getting the project done on time.

Placement Experience

1

From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Just one company visits and that too isn't up to the mark. Its PISOFT. The highest average package in our campus was 6lpa earlier. Now that also doesn't exist. We have to go for off-campus placement. Only 4 students out of a batch of 63 students. After getting the degree.I will apply in a company for a job via off-campus placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

The average fees per year is 30,000 rupees. But there are a lot of scholarship schemes for students such as PM scheme for wards of paramilitary forces personnel, for wards of defence personnel. Also there is a PM scheme for girls. These schemes waive off the yearly tution fees of the candidate. The fees for all the students in our college is same irrespective of their category.

Campus Life

3

NCEEITET conference helds every year in our college in the month of december in collaboration with IIT-KHARAGPUR where team of students come from different colleges for presenting their tech related models. .Also, smart hackathons are taking place nowadays in our college. All the books and journals are available in our library. We have projectors, smart boards in our classrooms. Sports facilities and infrastructure is very poor in or campus. There are a lot of clubs such as NSS,ANTI-RAGGING GROUP,ANTI-DRUG GROUP.

Admission

The other colleges I applied at were DU(DELHI UNIVERSITY), TIET(THAPAR INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY),PATIALA and SMVDU(SHRI MATA VAISHNO DEVI UNIVERSITY),KATRA and i got a confirmed admission form from all these colleges.I chose this college over others because i wanted to do a professional degree and my parents wanted me to do it from a government college. I didn't get rejection from any of these colleges. I was successfully accepted by all of these colleges due to my high merit in 12th standard as i had scored an impressive 96.4% in 12th standard. For taking admission in our college, firstly you have to fill the form of JKCET(JAMMU AND KASHMIR COMMON ENTRANCE TEST) which is conducted by JKBOPEE(JAMMU AND KASHMIR BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS) in the month of may every year and the result is declared in10-20 days. After the declaration of the result, the physical counselling rounds begin at the BOPEE office. Then students are offered seats based on their rank.

Faculty

5

The faculty members are very well qualified and very helpful, supportive. The facullty members of the whole computer deprtment are the best in the college and very disciplined too. There are no such faculties that i didn't like. There are two sessional exams in a semester, sessional-I and sessional-II,which are internal exams. Then at the end of the semester,we have our final semester exams. The exams are not tough at all but still there are very less students who pass the final exam because of the handwriting issue and length of the answer. The course cirriculum is quite relevant.

Other Applied Colleges

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - [Thapar University] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

My parents suggested that government colleges are worth it and so are their degree.

Students from the uth and 8th semester are eligible for placements. Companies offering packages about 10 lakhs come in the college. Out of 10 ,at most 5 students get the placement easily from the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course of CS cyber security is one of the leading course and need of today's modern world. Cyber crime is increasing with each passing day so demand for such course will never go down. For real world application students are given practical knowledge with well maintained computer labs. Students are motivated by organising competitions like hackathon, Techfiest etc so that they work on innovating new ideas. Teaching methods are very practical. Every topic is taught keeping thought of future competitive exam. More time is given on teaching the skills be it coding or assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as I completed my diploma in mechanical so I pursue this and talking about the faculty-student ratio, it is quite good as 2 teachers are there for every subject, so in a recent update, they made it compulsory for every teacher to have an M.tech degree and the teaching method is quite good and some of them are really good, so the exams were taken by Jammu University, the timing of sessional exams are taken every 1 and half months and it is done twice in the semester but the result took a lot of time.

Remarks:

It was the only state government run engineering college. So it was pretty obvious that the cut-off and competition to get into GCET was more than any other private college in the state. Right from the reputed and experienced faculty to the soft fee structure of the institute, it was a go to college for me or anybody else in the state. Upon joining, i opted for the mechanical engineering course because that had been my dream course, if i was to go for engineering.

Remarks:

College is quite good academic-wise but there is a lack of sports facilities. And the hostel facilities and the college fee are quite expensive. The college infrastructure is quite good and mesmerizing. College teachers are really very helpful.
