Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Actually I choose a political science for my masters because I like the subject a lot. My favourite aspect of our course curriculum is about international relations, comparative politics, judicial systems constitution and so on. Why learning international relations ,we can understand what is happening around the world and what is our country's present situation and what are the upcoming challenges in the future. One of my suggestion is that we have to a made the teaching more a practical. At present most of the syllabus is text oriented or textbook oriented. Some of the teachers are mainly focusing on text books of printed notes for explaining the concepts or ideas before the students so this practice should be replaced with more comprehensive and a descriptive teaching style. The most important challenge of our curriculum is the frequency and timing of the exams. It's very very difficult to cover whole portions before the exams. About 60% of the syllabus seems uncovered at exams

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid rupees five thousand per year for completing my post graduation. One thousand rupees paid as tuition fees, 700 rupees for caution deposit, 2000 rupees for development fees and other compulsory charges.I have paid 1300 for exam fees . This is the fees structure per year for OBC merit based students. Those who belongs to general category have to pay approximately 10000 rupees per year for the course. Coming to SC, ST students , they have to pay an amount below 2000 rupees per year. There are several scholarships available for the course. Scholarships such as higher education scholarship, Central sector scholarship under the central government are provided to the merit based students who are pursuing Masters. There are also many scholarships for a specific categories such as OBC ,SC, ST, girl child etc. There are also many grants such as E grantz under the state government which is provided to the students of certain categories of SC, ST and OBC .

Campus Life

4.5

I have a superb experience with our college. And the college life seems an unforgettable moment in my life. I really enjoyed it a lot. In our college we have a minimum of 3 to 5 programs per month . Many special days are celebrated in our college. For example ,freshers day ,which is celebrated in the month of June to July every year. Then college day is celebrated in the month of January to February. In the month of August or September we celebrate Onam. Christmas celebrations are in the month of December. Many club days are celebrated under the leadership of science club, environment club, maths club, rotary club etc. Special days are celebrated that is,the women's day, valentine's day, Teachers day, environmental day, no smoking day etc

Admission

I have applied for many colleges for pursuing masters in political Science. I have choosen Sree Narayana College, Kollam out of five selected colleges . I have a passion towards the college because many eminent personalities and social reformers have studied in our college. I really got inspired by them . And it is also one of the prestigious college in the district. Actually I have applied for five colleges for my masters and I got selected from all these five colleges . And this college ( Sree Narayana College, Kollam)is my own personal choice. There are mainly two types of admission process in our college. First one is merit based and the other one is community quota or management quota. No special exams are conducted by the college authorities for admission purposes. Most of the students are admitted to the college based on their previous exam marks.

Faculty

4.5

We have 300 + faculties in our college from various departments. Now about 2000 students are studying in our college in various departments and some others are doing research purpose. My favourite faulty in our college is Minu miss. Actually she is our class teacher. I like her a lot because of her character ,friendly attitude , caring and love towards the students. I like most of the teachers in our college but I have a disagreement are towards one teacher named Suchitra miss. It's because she is very rude and sometimes so impatient. We have two semester exams per year. That sums are quite difficult but the saddest thing is that we didn't get much time to prepare for the exams. Almost 30% of the students failed in the exams of our course per year. The course curriculum is extremely relevant in this developing world but I think some improvements or some changes should be made to the curriculum to meet present days needs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very old and must be improved to be on par with the ever expanding new technologies. I took this course, since I have a passion in programming. But there are various subjects which are minimal to no - relevant towards my department, which is IT. Chemistry, Chemistry Lab, Physics, Physics lab, Maths ( even though some parts of maths and physics is needed, it can be joined with the other programming subjects so that only things that are specifically necessary are being teached and both, being a seperate subject is unnecessary ), Engineering Graphics, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical, Civil, Mech Lab, Civil Lab, and all other non-credit subjects ( if there is no credit, why studying ? ). And can include more subjects revolving around various programming languages such as, C++, C#, Kotlin, React, etc.

Placement Experience:

There are placements in St thomas, with a placement cell but I have to say it beyond terrible. Especially students from criminology and forensics have zero opportunities in their field. They barely help with higher education or career counseling. It was quite frustrating as they had a negative approach itself to our batch

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum had so many unnecessary subjects that had no connection with our courses like psychology, zoology etc. They could have avoided that. Jewellery Designing students also had to study advanced minerology . Which in my opinion was a bit unnecessary. Apart from that i learnt to improve my drawing and rendering skills. Learnt about new types and also the history of jewellery Designing. Tools and Machinery used.
