Course Curriculum Overview
Coursera certificates helps with good amount of certifications that may benefit one to get hired in their dream company (in the IT sector). GCU's BCA is up to date and very friendly to non-sci background or computer background. The curriculum has a lot of presentations that one has to speak in front of 60-70 students and faculty. Some are graded and some are non-graded. It increases one's communication skills and public speaking ability. Confidence as well. No complaints about the teaching methods as they are going very slow with basics so that even a Non-sci background kid could understand it. There is a preparatory exam and sem-end exams. Other than that practicals are there (assignments, presentation, attendance).
Internships Opportunities
I am a fresher I am not that deeply aware of these. Though btech students do get stipend of around 30k-40k from 2nd year (if they have the required skills). University itself provides internships to students in dfiferent departments according to their skills.
Placement Experience
From the final semester, students become eligible for placements. There are placement drives conducted yearly for these students. Last semester was the internship for everyone in BCA. I saw delloite, IBM, flipkart for Computer science courses. After getting the degree and Coursera certificates, I will either go for MCA or get a job with a decent package for starters. (6-8LPA).
Fees and Financial Aid
1st year fees is 1.21 L (inclusive of 3k examination fees) for first year and after that 1.26 L (inc of 3k examination fees) for upcoming years. Can be paid yearly or sem wise, upto the student. A student can opt for education loan from banks and the university will provide you with documents that the bank requires. One friend of mine who went to nationals in class 12th got 1 sem fee waived off,he is in b.tech . Univeristy also provides yearly scholarship exams in which if scored good, according to the merit your fees can be waived off though there are a lot of ways our GCU supports students, like if they have any talent,NCC,sports. There is no entrance exam as the university believes in "everyone should get a chance to study".
Campus Life
Annual festival is held in march. It is called gardenia. It is a hyped festival which always meets up to its expectations. Library provides a lot of books for all the courses present in college. AC,projector, white board, mic and soeakers, wifi 6 facility thorughout the campus, coursera labs etc. NCC,NSS,internships within the university, football, basketball, cricket, body building, fashion show, acting.
Admission
I didn't apply to any colleges as I didn't wanted to waste money on registration fees. I went to Christ University, kristu Jayanthi College, Bangalore university, and Bangalore city university. All of them were not appealing to me even though they are well known. GCU is love at first sight type of university. It's big enough with a very big natural football ground, cricket nets l, a parking lot, gym. Hostel facilities are also there for both boys and girls separately. The food court is also there. Eligibilty to bca is that you just have to pass 12th with a minimum of 55% aggregate from any board (private candidates too). There is no exam for BCA, though one small university-level exam is there which can get you tuition fee wavered off. The admission experience was quite smooth. GCU provides students with a lot of internship opportunities.
Faculty
1 faculty to 60-75 students. Though each classrooms have more than enough space and speakers and mic facilities even for the non Computer courses. Faculties are great, experienced and they help students. They are usually cool with us and teach really well with use of tech. Course curriculum is up to date and student friendly. GCU provides coursera certificates per semester. Just completed digital footprints. Not sure about the failed students part as I am a fresher.
