Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the Btech Biotechnology course as it is innovative and blends biology with technology. I was a PCB student so with biology I can pursue this course. The course includes subjects like genetic engineering, molecular biology, biochemistry, Food technology, and many more, along with theory part, laboratory work, and research that encouraged me in this field. During my 1st year, there were subjects like electrical, mechanical, physics, and chemistry which i found not that relevant to my course i suggest adding some biotechnology related subjects in the first year also.
Internships Opportunities
Unpaid internships are offered for around 45-90 days depending on profile like research, analyst , Lab work, and Marketing. Core Diagnostic offered 2 months of internship in Laboratory work. Coca-Cola offered a quality analyst internship for around 45 days.
Placement Experience
Ar IILM University placement opportunities for Btech biotechnology is average. Companies like biocon , Coca-Cola, Bikano, Core Diagnostic, etc offer internships, and PPO. For other branches placement is good.
Fees and Financial Aid
So the fee structure for batch B.Tech Biotechnology for session 2021-2025 was like, 1st Year- Total Fees- INR 1,12000 ( Registration fees- 5000, Tuition fees - 86000, Career Development - 5000, Library fees - 1600 , Orientation - 4500, Alumni /ECA - 5000, Student welfare - 5000) In my first year, I received 40% of the scholarship on my total fees this scholarship was awarded because i scored more than 90% in my 12th grade, so I only needed to pay approx INR 67000.( Scholarships and discounts are only applicable for the first year) 2nd Year - 1,02600 3rd year - 1,02600 4th year - 1,02600 (Tuition fees, Career development, Library fees, Alumini/ECA, and Student Welfare charges remain the same for all years.) For students having financial issues were also provided loan facilities.
Campus Life
Many events are organized at IILM University, Starting from my first year I got the opportunity to coordinate around 6-7 events like sports fest, painting competition, quiz competitions etc. SriJan Fest was organized intercollege events for dancing, fashion show, and singing competitions. Annual fest like tech fest is organised students from IITs, NITs take part in robo war, and technical games are held. Festivals like Dandiya night , Janmashtami, diwali puja , Ganesh chaturthi are celebrated here with lots of excitement.
Admission
I got admission to IILM University because I was PCB student, I did not have maths in the 12th grade as a subject, so IILM was one of the Universities offering B.tech Biotechnology in NCR Region for PCB students along with IMS Gaziabad at that time. I got to that the placement opportunities and the greenery environment of the university are great.
Faculty
Overall the faculty-to-student ratio at my university is quite favorable, students can develop a good rapport with their professors, and most of the professors are approachable and encouraging allowing students to visit them during office hours to ask for any help or discuss course materials. I reached out to my professors for my academics as well as while organizing any events to discuss ideas and plan everything with faculty coordinators. While most of the faculty members are dedicated, only few are found less helpful, often reading directly from textbooks making lectures less engaging and lacking practical examples.
