BSc Microbiology at MES College Marampally

The course follows the syllabus prescribed by Mahatma Gandhi University for the affiliated colleges. The curriculum provides both conventional and modern methods of various study. I suggest to incorporate more of practical knowledge than theory as the course is more of a laboratory skilled work. The internal exams are conducted by the college and external semester exams are conducted by the univeristy.

As the course includes more of laboratory work, the course fee is a bit higher than compared to other courses. There is semester fee of approximately Rs. 24750 and there will be exam registration fee for every emester exams. The students can avail for scholarship and E-grantz as per the criteria of National Scholarship Program.

The campus celebrates Onam, Christmas and other important national events. The college also take part in the Univeristy Kalotsavam participating in varous events with other colleges. The library provides most reference texts and students can request for any text that is not available in the library. There are many clubs that students can join to promote their extra curricular activities.

I stayed in the college hostel situated inside the campus itself. Admission to hostel can be taken from the college office itselt. The hostel room is clean with common toilets. The hostel food is good with non-veg onmost days. The rent for room is Rs.2000 and for the mess was Rs.3500. Students can also stay in PGs nearby the college.

Students passed 12th can apply for the course. The admission is through the Centralised Allotment Program (CAP) by the univeristy. I enrolled a seat through the Management Quota. Students can get the Management quota seat by filling the application for management seat from the college website. There is no entrance tests for admission process.

The faculty members here are experienced and good at teaching both theory and practical works. They are friendly and give individual attention to students. The teachers organise many seminars and webinars regarding our area of study. They conduct proper examinations and workout previous year question papers during revision.
