What Students Say
Likes
- The environment and the students are nice teachers are stubborn sometimes but get the work done
Dislikes
- Behaviour and approach of teachers towards students is not really kind
- English (spoken) of some staff and teachers is not adequate which can make us feel that we are in an inferior institute
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I was getting the branch of Engineering that I wished and studied for. Subjects that are at the bottom of Computer Engineering are taught really well with spoon-feeding sometimes(talking about DSA) which is a good approach for absolute beginners. Teaching methods can be improved by using more use of practical usage from the second year rather than the third or fourth year to understand the interests of the students. After COVID the frequency of the exam was too high that you could retain the previous topics in the current exams( like every end sem exam was 4 months apart, so units and mid-sem exams were continuously put on our tables)
Internships Opportunities
Just a selected group of 10 are provided with internships others have to search for them outside the college which is painful if you dont have any technical skills, Mostly students did their internships at local startups and paid fund certificate providers due to the compulsion of internship in TY. Some faculties really give out nice projects to the students to work on and encourage academic+ practical improvement
Placement Experience
Placements are offered and we are educated for them only. Final Year students are eligible for the placements (late). Accenture, KPIT, Xoriant, and Persistent are the most prominent visitors with packages offered from 1.2 to 14.5 LPA to 8 to 10 students each. At least 50% of students get placed every year. I am not taking placements because I am planning to pursue an MBA in finance after my BE is finished.
Fees and Financial Aid
During my 3 years here there was no hike in fee. I need 1.5 to 1.6 lakhs per year to stay near the college counting the travel expenses, living costs, etc. with fees counted in the total expenses. Internships are not provided you have to go out and look for them (compulsory in TY). Employment is not guaranteed, and placement with worse to better packages after the final year,
Campus Life
Ensemble is an annual fest of our college which goes on for 4 days in January every year which is not the GRAND that you'd expect but still, if you enjoy dancing with chairs beneath you then it fine, All course material is available in the library along with a maintained E-Library. Good Hardware is provided with very minimalistic compulsory software that you work on(due to SPPU guidelines). Nice labs, nice machines with great potential. Sports are not that big of a part of college but they are there. Extracurricular activities are encouraged by the Dean but somehow due to attendance, HODs make the lives of students hard.
Hostel Facilities
I've rented a Flat in Kothrud which is 2 km from college with 4 others from the same college so to reduce the travel cost combined. Meal quality in overall Pune city is variable depending on the place you decide to have your meals, college meals are good and hygienic and they offer a variety of food items.
Admission
Heard of the college during the MHT CET counseling and was satisfied with the stats they put so I selected this college in my preference form and I got the seat from computer science through my AIR calculated by conversion of my JEE score.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is close to 10/540 i.e., 1 teacher for every 54 students, Faculties are generally nice but are way too focused on maintaining and updating the attendance charts, Every faculty(teaching) either has completed or is pursuing his/her PhD so they are generally acquainted with what they are teaching but, some faculties just read out of a PPT that is used from the beginning of time with minor tweaks
