Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is average and does not meet industrial requirements. This is not only a problem at our college but at almost every college. Our curriculum comprises both practical and theoretical components. It is advisable to study subjects in depth if one wants to pursue a career in the core field. What we study are the basic concepts of environmental subjects, which indeed help a lot in government and academic exams. Our academic exams include mid-semester exams, end-semester exams (like a final exam for a semester), assignments, quizzes, and viva. In conclusion, I can say that the curriculum needs to be updated to meet current industrial requirements specifically. Student should study by their own instead rely on college academics.
Internships Opportunities
Currently, the recession is affecting internship opportunities, with fewer companies coming to recruit interns. At DTU, specifically in my department, we are provided with research internships, which are incredibly insightful. However, there are no internships available for core branches. Despite this, there have been many tech opportunities with good packages.
Placement Experience
Placements at DTU are good, even in core branches, but students must have the necessary skills. At DTU, over 300 companies visit, offering decent packages. The highest packages can reach crores (of course, these are international packages). Some students also prefer to pursue master's degrees or MBAs after their degree. From the third year, students are eligible for on-campus internship opportunities, and in the fourth year, they are eligible for placements. It is definitely beneficial, but you must have skills and knowledge of your subjects. Strong communication skills are also essential.
Fees and Financial Aid
It is a government college, but the fees are quite high and increase by 30,000 every year. For example, if the fees are 210,000 in the first year, they would increase to 240,000 in the second year. There is the option of an education loan for financial relief. Additionally, DTU offers many scholarship programs, which are listed on the DTU website. There are about 15-16 scholarship programs available. We just need to keep ourselves updated so that we can apply for scholarships on time. The detailed fee structure is also mentioned on the website.
Campus Life
Every year, our college hosts a variety of exciting events, with Engifest being the highlight. This annual and cultural fest attracts students from all over India who participate in various competitions. In addition to Engifest, we celebrate Diwali Fest and numerous smaller fests throughout the year. Our college boasts a vibrant community with many societies where students from different branches come together to learn and explore new things. The infrastructure is top-notch with greenery. We have a central library that is full of books and provides a peaceful place for study. Additionally, there is a sports complex with facilities for indoor games, a gym and auditoriums.
Admission
The admission process is very smooth. Candidates who take the JEE Mains are eligible for the B.Tech program at DTU. Candidates must have completed their 12th grade and also have qualified JEE with good rank. There are different ranks based on reservation categories. The lower the rank, the more likely you are to get into computer science and related branches at DTU.
Faculty
The faculty members are highly qualified without a doubt. They teach in English because there are foreign students. They have good knowledge of their subjects, and while most are strict, a few are not. They are supportive if student wants to learn or do research work. We have opportunity to learn, seek guidance and discuss ideas with professors, they are supportive if student want to do something.
