We were brought into the new CBME curriculum. Even the faculty finds it hard to comply with as it is a new system. There are a lot of small group discussions and self directed learning programmes that consider the teacher as just a facilitator and students are meant to learn with the guidance of the facilitator.

Internships Opportunities

In MBBS 1 year compulsory intership must be done in your own college. We get experience in all the aspects of this job. We have to work in all the departments of the hospital. Rs 26000 is currently provided to an intern per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee is 22000 rs per year. There are different scholarship avilabe both public and private like the MOMA scholarship, E grantz,etc. which provide students with financial support. There are no campus employment opportunity avilabe in the college.

We have a union inauguration, Athrava college day which is one of the best celebration in the college with renowned artists from all over india performing. Lot of other celebrations are also conducted in the college.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel are very affordable annual fee is just 8000 rs, which is very cheap. Hostel has a bed, shelfs to keep your books. Rooms are well ventilated. Bathrooms are old but fine as cleaning staff is present on a daily basis. Food is also cheap.

Admission

Eligibility to get admission in this college is less than 250 kerala rank in KEAM allotment process. This rank is from the NEET exam. Application is avilable in kerala higher education department website.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.

Calicut Medical College - an ideal place to learn and grow as a doctor

I got admission on state quota (general category) after giving the NEET exam in 2019. I scored 646/ 720 and had an AIR rank of 1039 and state rank of 131. The overall application process was easy and all the necessary forms were given in the college itself. The admission dates were informed in the state website of Kerala, which can be found after filling the application for state quota. Application fees was paid in the college treasury itself.
