Course Curriculum Overview

We were brought into the new CBME curriculum. Even the faculty finds it hard to comply with as it is a new system. There are a lot of small group discussions and self directed learning programmes that consider the teacher as just a facilitator and students are meant to learn with the guidance of the facilitator.

Internships Opportunities

In MBBS 1 year compulsory intership must be done in your own college. We get experience in all the aspects of this job. We have to work in all the departments of the hospital. Rs 26000 is currently provided to an intern per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee is 22000 rs per year. There are different scholarship avilabe both public and private like the MOMA scholarship, E grantz,etc. which provide students with financial support. There are no campus employment opportunity avilabe in the college.

We have a union inauguration, Athrava college day which is one of the best celebration in the college with renowned artists from all over india performing. Lot of other celebrations are also conducted in the college.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel are very affordable annual fee is just 8000 rs, which is very cheap. Hostel has a bed, shelfs to keep your books. Rooms are well ventilated. Bathrooms are old but fine as cleaning staff is present on a daily basis. Food is also cheap.

Admission

Eligibility to get admission in this college is less than 250 kerala rank in KEAM allotment process. This rank is from the NEET exam. Application is avilable in kerala higher education department website.

Faculty in GMC kozhikode is one of the best in the country. Some subjects have autors of gold standard textbooks of different subjects. The kind of learning approch in this college is very student friendly and good.

Life at SUTAMS

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor.The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else.The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging.Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college.Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others.So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

Admission is given based on entrance examination. I am doing my MBBS course from this college. I got admission in this college through NEET entrance examination. After clearing NEET, I applied with my score in counseling, and got admission in this college by my score. We must have studied Physics, Chemistry and biology in 12th and must have completed 17 years of age.

Remarks:

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.

So, in order to get admitted, one needs to be either 17 or more in age. It holds some general basic necessities that all colleges demand like (10+2) cbse or equivalent exam degree. And you need to score more than 50% aggregate in PCB / Biotech combined. For admission in UG courses, candidates can apply through their NEET UG medical scorecard. Aspirants need to clear the stated cutoff percentile in order to qualify. Candidates can check the expected cutoff percentile in the year of examination in order to prepare accordingly for their respective categories( general, SC/ST, OBC). A candidate can visit the official portal of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala to get themselves registered for NEET 2020 Kerala State Counselling. Counselling of NEET 2020 for All India Quota will be conducted in two rounds in online mode. The counselling will consist of these steps. 1. Registering to the official website. 2. You have to choose the courses and colleges of your preference and finally lock-in the preferences in the online portal. 3. Those who will be allotted a seat in the first round, will be required to either reject the allotted seat or report to the allotted college and complete the admission formalities. 5. Calicut Medical College - an ideal place to learn and grow as a doctor

I got admission on state quota (general category) after giving the NEET exam in 2019. I scored 646/ 720 and had an AIR rank of 1039 and state rank of 131. The overall application process was easy and all the necessary forms were given in the college itself. The admission dates were informed in the state website of Kerala, which can be found after filling the application for state quota. Application fees was paid in the college treasury itself.
