What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure, it totally speaks for itself, There are multiple buildings right across one another, along with the massive library in UB, during exams, it stays open until 12 AM which is a bonus point.
- The greenery and maintenance, each morning you see the workers sweeping, be it rains or extreme heat, the campus always stays neat and tidy except for sometimes.
- The cultural fests and the clubs made for the fests, literacy, music, art and theatre, you name it, srm has it.
Dislikes
- The buildings are quite a bit far, sometimes you might have to go to the ub for classes or the other campus during semester exams, and it's a bit of a hassle.
- As mentioned earlier, sometimes you meet faculty who are very rude and if you do take a stand for yourself they target you lol.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good, although most of the faculty don't share any notes beforehand, we are given a curriculum which consists of everything we'll be taught for the total number of years we'll be studying here, it has some of the best books to refer. The Syllabus is good and completed on time.
Internships Opportunities
I have recently entered into my 2nd year of college and it's been a good long year here, it's only in the 2nd year that you get internships and since I'm from the school of management, I do not if they'd offer much help for internships as you yourself have to find them on own.
Placement Experience
mostly it's the end of your sixth semester that you might become eligible for campus placements. I have heard people get hired mostly for TCS, cognizant, etc. 90% of students with a decent gpa and skills get placed. I plan to get a degree, work and save money for pursuing masters further.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm still in the first year so I don't know much about the placement opportunities but it isn't any less than 5-6 LPA, The tuition fee is always going to be constant as soon as you take admission, but yes over the years, it has taken a toll, the tuition fee did change for many departments, in fact, BBA in data science is a new course, we are the first batch and it's the highest in terms of tuition fee among all the other branches in BBA.
Campus Life
MILAN is an annual fest at SRM, There are over 6 clubs and each has its own aura, If you do participate in the auditions and get selected, you might get recognition and some additional skills to fill your resume, helping you stand out but also keep in mind that it's kind of hard managing the attendance due to all the practice you require for you to hold your place in the club.
Admission
For bba data science, you need to have 60% on your 12th boards, you might find the application form by the end of January itself. the application fee when I enrolled was 1200 inr. To me, the area of improvement lies in customer care, since they don't answer on time mostly, i had to dial for weeks as soon as the admissions started since I couldn't get a hang of them.
Faculty
Some are very good but some are just underqualified and overpaid, depends on the type of students they deal with too but mostly, 2 out of 10 people actually know what they're teaching. In my first year, we had an amazing sir who later stopped coming to class because the students were low in attendance, in the second semester we had another sir who was actually pretty good, most of the time, it's the students who demotivate the teaching faculty.
Other Applied Colleges
GITAM | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
I didn't like it quite, i was getting a scholarship in this but i was more interested in management, so i got into bba in data science at srmist
