Entrance Preview

I wanted to pursue my career in the field of Mechanical Design and VNIT being one of the reputed institutes in Maharashtra region. Firstly I got admitted to NIFTEM Sonipat for M.Tech. in Food Process Engineering. but being resident of Maharashtra opted for this institute

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Need to improve a bit as far as Masters degree course. Should give priority to practical Education. Need to include more of CAE related subject in course. course Should be taken as the base of mathematics. subjects like Mechanical vibration and Fracture mechanics should be made compulsory. Students should be given opportunity on a larger scale to pursue projects in the industry which might improve placement rate

Internships Opportunities

The college has provided 1year internship under BETiC for 2 months during summer. as GATE qualified student everybody gets Rs. 12400 as basic stipend per month. During the final year, I have searched my own internship for project completion. Fewer hopes from Institute end.

Placement Experience

1

I not at all happy with this part with the institute. T and P Department of Institute should work separately for Masters Degree student and separately for an undergraduate student. After completion of a Masters degree in a core domain, nobody wants to work in the IT industry but opportunities given are in the same area. I got placed in Infosys Core area but package offered was very less.

College Events

3.5

there we used to have many events. few were technical and others were cultural. during technical events lot, many participants from all over the country used to visit VNIT. We used to have two separate annual gatherings. one for UG Students and one separately for PG students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a Central Government Institue everyone must be thinking fees will be less. But that is not the case with this institute. Fees here was Rs. 800100 per anum for academics and Rs. 65400 fo hostel. now, this has also got increased. You also need to pay more amount as an extra electricity bill.

Fees and Financial Aid

As GATE qualified student everybody gets Rs. 12400 as basic stipend per month. Other than this institute does not allow any student to go for any other scholarships for open category students.

Campus Life

4

It's a complete green Campus. During my tenure over here, I got chance to meet Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam sir as he was a chief guest for AXIS 2014. He also praised institute for same. there you will get exposure to a lot many things Institue have the big central library which is quite good.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facilities seem to be very good for Postgraduate students those who are leaving in the PG-5 hostel. Its big campus of a hostel. Everyone gets the separate room along with a balcony. Food provided in mess is one of the worst quality food. It just doesn't have the taste.

Alumni/Alumna

Don't have any idea about alumni network but one thing for sure Institue has produced many gems who are today at the very top position of few MNCs.

Exam Structure

Exam Structure was quite easy. We used to have two sessional exams and 1 final Exam and 1 surprise quiz or assignments for 10 marks. the final exam was of 3hrs a day and sessionals were 1hr day with 2 papers per day. sometimes it was also an open book or open class copy sort of exams.

Admission

I got admitted to this institute on the basis of GATE score using the centralized admission process. I appeared for GATE 2014 in which I got a decent score. then I opted for admission process. After completion of all three rounds, last was institute round.

Faculty

3

Few faculties are really best. My student coordinator and project guide Dr. Shital Chiddarwar supported me very much during all phase of projects and approval from institutes management to pursue my Project at ARAI which helped me to give direction and a good start to my career. Prof. Dr. Animesh Chaterjee one of the best faculties of Mechanical Department

The college is the topmost college. It got a nice campus, nice teachers, there were good positive vibes for students. The only drawback is that the number of students are so much. The admission should be reduced by making other branches.
