Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is really interesting and very in-depth. But as I mentioned it's quite hard. Some faculty do make it more hard by teaching quite advanced stuff. Some even don't grade well. But it is all the choice to learn better and better. So they teach well and one can understand well if they are interested in learning. Teaching methods are blackboard-based. Some teachers make things very interesting by doing lab visits or explaining in quite interactive ways. Some give programming assignments, some take challenging quizzes, and course homework problems which are sometimes a nightmare but they are to enjoy the subjects. Generally, for core courses, there are 4 exams for each course. For elective courses, the professor can choose any number of exams, or even no exam if he wants. They can decide their way of grading the students, either viva or something another way like programming, homework, etc. the four exams are # quizzes and one sem and one end sem.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are many research opportunities that are available in the college. One can do internship under any professor of iiser bhopal or can write mail anywhere to avail the internships. We have bonds with many institutions across India as well asnoutside India. ENS France, Max Planck institute, DAAD Wise, Charpaak, etc all this offers internship. Some more are there which they have written on IISER Bhopal web, and theys end timely mail regarding all this.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is quite high. It's around 51k for general students. And mess fees is 3000-3500 per month. Hostels are compulsory, and fees for this is included in the main fees. There is generally no scholarship which can give full fee waiver. Although, some students do have INSPIRE based on there board marks. Also, some had KVPY before. Some scholarship for Bs ms students that we have in iiser are like Smt Mukherjee scholarship which is 10k one time. So, not exactly anything specific.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is amazing there are many facilities that we have including e rickshaw. We have CCD and Nescafe, and also ICH In our campus We too have resturant, bakery shops, juice shops and general stores, ofcourse medical centre. We have lot of subscription of journals and many are availbale in library which we can read. Moreover, there are many clubs which offers place to show talent like facing singing etc. Apart from that, we have almost all sports which are general, and play ground for them. They are well equipped. We too have gym facilities.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel have good facility which includes cold water as well as hot water. Also, we have washing machine paid, for washing clothes. One common room where we have AC and TV. I will say this is best just in hard summers it's quite difficult to live because hostel rooms don't have AC, and it's quite hot.

Admission

I have given JEE ADVANCED EXAMS to enter here. The cutoff was around 10k, and I was selected to get up the admission here. Now the cutoff for advanced go even low, because very less students prefer to come through that way. Also, for SCB exams the cutoff if I know is around 90 marks, to be very safe, fir Bhopal campus.

Faculty

5

This depends on the department to department. In case of physics, the students are 50 per batch, so overall 3 batches after 3rd year 4th year and 5th year. First and second year don't have major so they don't belong to specific department. And the favulty are total 26 in count in physics. So it's the good ratio as far I can think of. Moreover, comparing total batch strength with faculty, it's like, 300 students in one batch, and total faculty of all departments are around 180. Total college student strength is around 1900 students. So, it's like 1:10 ration closely if comparing total.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is very research driven, and it is very flexible too. Course is as per the New Education Policy and is relevant to modern industrial needs. However the Curriculum is all around Pure Sciences, like the B.Sc but just the college is much better than a normal BSc college. First two year is given to students to get along with subjects that they want to study in future, in the third year they choose their Majors. Quizzes are frequent and occurs biweekly, while Exams occurs every month and so.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum trains students in various research fields, including lab and theory. The course prepares a student to get either a industry position, or PhD position. The course curriculum can be improved by porividing more exposure to students who havent experienced, these fields. Exams are good, easy if youve understood the course content. These exams are based on a wide information of the topic, and are not limited to just one textbook.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I am just in my first year right now, the courses I have are fairly introductory. But since we have to study PCMB, Earth Science, Programming and a Humanities course just in the first year, it's fairly hard to manage. we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem exam and an end sem exam in each semester typically at the end of each consecutive month (4 month semester). The marking scheme, syllabus, paper pattern, time, difficulty etc are all subject to change according to the professor.

Placement Experience:

As it's a research institution, more emphasis is given to academia and research instead of placements. We have an active placement cell, but still, it's lackluster compared to engineering colleges. The average package hovers around 10 lpa, and only a handful of people get placements. Most opt for Phd or an MBA.

We have a relatively better course structure, but what i think is IISER Pune has the most advanced sort of curriculum which gives them a better advantages and helps in their NIRF Ranking also. All the courses should be type of open elective.

Placement Experience:

Mostly from 8th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements and getting preplacement offers in their applied companies. Companies like nomura Bank ,Barclays and Dr Reddy's lab have visited the campus in the past. Mostly all the students get placed because less number of student sitting for the placements. According to last year data around 31 lakhs per annum was the highest package and the average was around 10 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get into a foreign university for my higher studies.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus
