Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is a trimester system and first two terms completely focuses on General MBA subjects as well as the Rural Subjects in addition to that. The first term teaches us more on participatory rural appraisal and community research methods which prepares us for the upcoming 2 months Village Fieldwork Segment. The Village Fieldwork Segment is a practical experience as on to how to become a part of rural society and thus delve into the issues and see things differently through their perspectives which is very important for a Rural Manager since our forte of work would be that. The second term is again very core subjects such as marketing management financial management etc which helps you to slightly understand where your calling lies and hence thus prepare for summer internship and once that is done third term onwards have more of elective offerings which we can choose based on our interests as well as those that would be helpful for the summer internship projects we signed up for

4

The major companies that offered internship were Godrej, ITC , Piramal , Tata Steel , LDC , Wheelocity, Amul , NDDB , NPCI, Kaleidofin, Sea6, . The projects ranged from marketing to finance to operations to development sector projects. There were internship offers from Banas Diary , EY Grant thorton Baif Baer Groupobimbo, Basix , Vedanta , AgriVijay, Agronxt and many other agribased companies. The stipends ranged from 10000 offered by companies like Milkymist and Bigbasket to 100000- 150000 offered by Tata steels Abis etc. There were offers by Elastic run @75000 all this for one month so in actual double the amount. The whole offer is given in PF provided by placement cell having stipend, role and project titles so that it becomes easy for participants .

Placement Experience

4.5

The campus placements are right after the fourth term of college. The basic package average is 15 lakh per annum and highest package last year was 33 lakhs for Wipro. The big companies like ITC Coramandel LDC Groupobimbo Cipla and many Banks such as ICICI , AXIS and Development sector companies like Nandi Ltd, Dr Reddy's, Grant thorton , Baif and many other big companies come for the placements, Placements are also done directly to Amul,NDDB , Banas Diary , Milma etc. Many companies such as NPCI, ITC, Flipkart have also offered PPOs in the last few years. Some have even bagged pre placement interviews through several competitions held through Unstoppable. There is a 100% placement history every year even though the last year economy and market conditions were bad there was a 100% placements both in finals as well as during summer internship time . The Placements are offered for a different array of roles from marketing to finance to Hr to rural managers. My interest lies in Brand Manag

Fees and Financial Aid

Year by year there seems to be a slight increase in the overall fee structure. The complete cost for my batch would lie somewhere around 18 lakhs for total 2 years . There are several scholarship provided based on merit , reservation, family income and so on. There is a scholarship named Tuition Fee Waiver provided to 10-12 students are relaxed the full amount of fees. Based on cat composite score there is a relaxation of around some percentage of total tuition fees. Then there are scholarships offered by hdfc ICICI and other banks as well. And all updates by vidyalaxmi will be updated through mail by the college administration. There are currently no campus employment opportunities available or provided in the campus.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus is very well known for the diversity that if maintains. There are participants from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and hence coming to the cultural festivals happening there, every week there is atleast a celebration. There are 20 + clubs in IRMA which collaborates and conducts various competitions every now and often. The major event is the annual alumni meetup which forms a ground for networking known as Milaap wherein the passout batches come back to the campus. Coming to Sports there is interbatch competition Sangarsh as well as section wars conducted that encompasses both cultural and sports events and also the hostel wars is conducted every year. The key facilities are the classes are entirely smart classes and Ac is there . The lecture halls are very well modernised. There are several clubs and committees in IRMA to cater to your academic as well as extracurricular interests. The selection procedure is through interviews for clubs and elections are conducted for committees.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel rooms are single occupancy and rooms are well spacious. The only issue is it's not Ac rooms and the hostel food menu is curated keeping in mind the diversity of the batch. But the hostel food is not upto mark and also there is lack of option to opt out of mess. The programme is a residential one and hence it's mandatory for everyone to stay in hostels itself during the 2 year term of the course. There are no provisions for staying outside until and unless you are evicted from hostel facilities due to malpractices. The hostel room is provided with one cupboard large enough two chairs one study table and small shelves over study area , balcony space and also common bathrooms and toilets for around 10 people in a floor. Cleaning is regularly done by cleaning staff. There is also laundary service available which requires extra payment. The boys and girls hostel are seperate but restrictions for entry are only after 11 pm to the opposite gender hostel blocks. Another issue is dog

Admission

I belong to general category my cat percentile was 91% and I had converted in the first shortlist itself. The application will be released short after the CAT results on Irma website. Cat exam is conducted a year then the application received and cut off is issued and thereafter there is a Online written ability test and Interview which is now conducted offline. The admission is on basis of composite score there is higher priority for women and also for non engineering students 12 th and 10 th marks are also taken into consideration.

Faculty

4.5

The quality of faculties are really good . They are well renowned in their own fields of work and have also been doing parallel research works except for the teaching curriculum and also takes up projects for various cooperative as well as NGOs. The qualifications are also up to the mark. Many have did Fellowship programmes and so fron reputed institutes such as that of IIM Ahmedabad and so. But recently many teachers have transferred and there exists an issue of students teacher ratio which needs to be addressed and those spots are filled in by guest lecturers who are equally talented. There is a one to one mentorship programme offered by the Faculties which makes interaction more effective and the present faculties are all very approachable and helping in nature. The faculty guide assignment during VFS and SIS also makes the interaction more effective and fruitful Between the students and faculties. The teachers also take part in other cultural functions which gives a family feeling.

Interview Experience

4.5

I had a Online Written Ability Test during my admission which was the first step of screening wherein a picture is given and a window opens wherein you have to write your thoughts in 1500 words or so. Now the pattern has been changed since all the procedures are offline and they are just given a topic to write on with stipulated time deadline. There is a 20% weightage or so for it. The next process was interviews. Mine was online since I opted for it. It lasted for around 25 mins. The questions were basically why MBA why Rural Management why IRMA and so also my future aspirations. Preparation point is first be thorough with all the basic HR questions any could be thrown at you and later prepare on 1-2 subjects core ones and also have relevant sector knowledge current affairs and also hot topics regarding your undergraduation or the course you are gonna takeup. Be clear with what you wanna do in life and later drive the interview in such a manner because that is what worked well for me
