Why IIM Ahmedabad?

You can research over any site, but you will have to make a choice between Bangalore and Ahmedabad, most people neglect Calcutta. People often choose Ahmedabad because of the brand name, despite it being in Gujarat. Bangalore still have the location advantage and is growing well, and the course is pretty chilled out too. They do give preference to experience candidates and hence the competition may be a little high during placements. On the other side, IIM A is known for its academic rigour, and it prepares you for your worst nightmares. The case study pedagogy gives you a wide variety of experience in difficult situations. The placement process is well designed in the favor of students to provide them with enough opportunities. Of course, I don't know about professors from Bangalore, and everyone has their gems, but yes faculty at IIM Ahmedabad is the one thing I would choose the same college again.

I wanted to do a full-time MBA and from India because of the monetary issues. CAT gives you access to a lot of such programs and the one I choose is one among them. The faculty-student ratio is 1:5. Most of the facilities here are PhD and have a long time teaching experience here at IIM Ahmedabad. Most of the batches have studied from the same professors, the new professors usually take the regular PGP 1 courses. There is a wide variety of options in PGP 2 for electives. People can choose as per their interest and capabilities. There is a fair bidding system in the process. The exams are difficult for those who don't study, but the surprise quizzes keep you on your toes, with everything updated in your mind. It's hectic but fun and you can see growth in your thoughts in the initial months. There is a good amount of diversity that provides you with different experiences from your peers.

It is very similar to what happens in the final process. Everyone gets an internship offer. You can also apply off campus, but will have to follow a specific process in accordance with the placement committee. There are enough opportunities on the campus that people would want to try something outside. I personally interned with Ola on their Ola drive project. My project was to identify a new market, new use cases for the car rental business which would help them expand.

The fees were 23 lacs but it may have increased up to 28 lacs now, but the money is worth the opportunities, but it still depends on the candidate to perform. There is an easy loan process, with a credit limit of up to 40 lacs which will cover almost any cost you would incur. The salary you will get probably will let you repay it in a minimum of 3 years-5 years while maintaining a good lifestyle. The scholarships are very limited and mostly centre and state based. IIM A also provides a scholarship. However, all this scholarship have a small figure of up to 2 lacs/ year. Does it really matter, if you are here to study and succeed? The loan is easily accessible, with no collateral.

There are enough activities going around if you want to participate and have enough time from your work. You will get enough time in between to involve in such activities. Every career domain has its own clubs which help you prepare, then there are fun and art clubs for dancing, singing, acting, etc. There are clubs for managing events as well. Every festival is celebrated. I don't need to explain this, it is one of the top institutes, it has every resource you may need, and it is upon you how you use this resource. There is one of the biggest libraries in India known as VSL. The classes are digitally enabled.

Meals are separate and the hostel is mandatory and is included in college fees. The mess has a typical Gujarati taste. The campus has enough other outlets that provide low-cost food options and are available all time. The new campus hostel even has ACs, and the dorms are small with a capacity of 44 students, giving a separate dorm culture for people living in the same dorm. A small number of people gives you enough time for bonding in comparison to the individualistic large hostels having large crowds, where you only know few people.

The GD system is no more relevant in the CAT process. The WAT exam is conducted having small cases, and essay topics. One must be aware of their surroundings, and the world. One can join coaching classes where they cover relevant topics. The PIs can be very random, and there is no way that better than giving mock interviews. The basic hr questions starting from telling me about yourself and strengths weaknesses are a must. You must also know everything that you have mentioned in the CV or application form.
