Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My dream was to persue mbbs so I chose this course. Curriculum is fixed by NMC which is followed in every medical College according to me it is good as it includes a good clinical exposure and practical knowledge which will help us in future . I appreciate that they have included AETCOM in the curriculum . I would suggest that there should be some focus on the extra curricular activities for complete development. MBBS is full of exams you have to appear for the exams throughout the year

Internships Opportunities

2

There is a compulsory 1 year internship at 3 hospitals affiliated with college these are Basaveshwara hospital and sangameshwar hospital. Till now any stipend is not offered during internship but now after the supreme court's order it might be given.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fees remains uniform throughout Karnataka. For 1st year MBBS there is 1093000 tution fees and 65000 extra fees for private category. It is same for 2nd and 3rd year also. In the final year there is a fees around 1700000 as the final year is for 1.5 year . An additional examination fees is to be given to appear for University examination. Approximately 10-20 thousand is spent on books every year . Talking about the hostel fees it is 55000 per year foran AC room whereas it is 45000 per year for a non AC room. Mess fees is 3500 per month . There are some scholarships offered by Karnataka government for EWS for example ssp .

Campus Life

2.5

A fest is organised in the college which is named GLIMPSE. There is a good availablity of books in the library . Library is not open foy 24hours . Library timings are 9AM to 9PM on week days and 9AM to 2 PM on Sundays and holidays. There are smart boards , projectors , mics and speakers in the classrooms. There are museums, cadavars and all the equipments for practicals. College does not focus alot on extracurricular activities but we can organise sports events and other events in college campus by taking permission from the authorities. Various health awareness flash mobs and walkathons are organised by the college. There is a group made under national medical organisation under this people go to various places for health awareness and for medical camps .

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Talking about the girls hostel AC rooms and AC blocks are really good and are very affordable whereas non AC block don't have that good infrastructure. There is daily cleaning and laundry services available in the hostel in every block . Mess is hygienic and food quality is good and nutritious. Variety of food is given in the mess. Registeration for hostel is very easy we just need to go to the office and show admission documents issued from college and pay the hostel fees

Admission

Talking about eligibility for the course it is important for us to give NEET examination . Admission is KEA counselling. There are 3 types of seats that are government, private and management . For government seat fees is around 2.5 lakh per year and for private seat fees is around 12 lakh per year whereas in management seat it is about 35 lakh per year. There is no such separate reservation . Reservations are same as neet councelling. Throughout the year we have to appear for exams there are 3 internal assessment examination and many part completion tests and the final University examination. It would be helpful for people who are not from Karnataka if there is a central councelling for admission

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio is decent we have 30 teachers in 1st year MBBS and 150 students are there. Teachers take there classes with full interest and complete the syllabus on time . Teachers in the physiology department are really good at teaching the teach in interesting ways and grab the attention of students they are really very friendly in teaching . Other to departmenta are also good at teaching but they don't teach in gun ways . We can interact with teachers whenever we wish too

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
