Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

One of the reasons that made me choose BTech in Mechanical Engineering and to do it at the College of Engineering Perumon was that they offered to teach outside the book which helps to gain more knowledge rather than just for the academic side. The teachers usually complete the academic studies really early and use the remaining time for doubt clearance and application level studying. Exams are also conducted regularly with semester exams once during six months and even monthly tests are regularly conducted.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The main companies that offer internship with stipend that visit the campus are Tata, Wipro and some are technical and construction based companies which offer training engineer jobs and posts for 6 months to over 2 years time periods.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students are eligible for campus placement once they start their fifth semester. More than 25 companies visit the college offering placements to students each year with the average package being 3.5 lakhs. The percentage of students that got placed last year was 82 percent. Each year more than 75 percent students get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The normal tuition fees that students pay every year are 35000 every year for students who got admitted through the KEAM entrance exams. NRI quota and spot admission quota are also available with increased tuition fees. Each year other than the 35000 tuition fees an extra amount of 7000 is collected yearly for sports, arts, and placement cell fees . A large amount of scholarships are available for students

Campus Life

4.5

The name of the annual and technical festivals conducted is known as Advyka and they are usually conducted during the even semesters which is usually during the month of May. The college library has a wide range of books and journals available with technical support. Sports and other extracurricular activities are conducted on regular intervals with great student support. There are also clubs run by students such as the IEEE, TRAMS etc which helps students bring out the best in them.

Admission

The eligibility to be admitted for the course is to achieve a minimum of 45 percentage marks in Higher Secondary Examinations and also to pass the KEAM entrance exams. Even if one has not been able to attend the KEAM entrance exams, they can still be admitted for the course through NRI quota seats.

Faculty

4

The teachers and other lab faculties are all MTech graduates and maintain a really good connection with the students in both the studies and other extracurricular activities. They help the students to reach their maximum potential. Another thing is that we can reach out to the teachers at any time and they are also willing to help the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
