Likes

Excellent academics and top quality faculties.
Labs are really good and students can take full benefits of the labs.
Direct placement into ISRO. Also there is plenty of opportunity for research

Dislikes

Very less extra curricular activity and opportunities in sports
Campus is located in a remote location. Hard to plan any group travel.
Academics can put pressure on students and can become a burden if not managed properly

Course Curriculum Overview

My curruculum is B.tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering or ECE, one of the most relevent fields or disciplines in engineering. In this institute the descipline is taught really well at B.Tech level and my only suggestion for improvement would be to introduce more specilization into the discipline.

Internships Opportunities

There are excellent internship opportunities. The top students from ECE department get an opprtunity at Cannbera or at Caltech for internship. Other student can pretty much choose any ISRO center or other institutes for internship or they can do their internship inside the campus.

Placement Experience

So there is a placement cell in our institute that provides placement opportunities to students. Though the placement is not as good as the top IITs. Top companies include TCS, Accenture etc. The opportunity of placemet is going to increase in the coming years due to the vast aluimi network and more companies and various start-ups being intereseted in our institure.

Fees and Financial Aid

Currently the tution fees is around 90000 rupees. I am from the last batch who receives scholarship. The entire fees is compulsary and inculdes everything like tution fees, hostel fees etc. So there is no extra fees.

Campus Life

Campus life is pretty good. The hostels are good and maintained really well. The food is clean, healty and for most cases tastes good. There will be no inconviniences in basic needs. But the social, cultural and sports activities are not as good as compared to other institutes in India. So you have to adjust with that.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facilty is reall good. Everything is maintained well everyday. The bathrooms are clean as well. Only downside is the weather. As it is pretty hot here throughout the year some rooms can become really hot in the daytime. Other than that there is not much of a issue. You geyt free WiFi and everything.

Hostel Fee: INR 14400 per year

Admission

I got admission in this institute from my JEE Advanced result. This institute has its own seperate counceling. The cutoff is less than the top IITs. I belong to SC catagory. My general rank was around 24000 and my catagory rank was 666. So I got admitted in the first round.

Faculty

This institute has one of the best faculty to student ration in entire india. The facuties are really well educated. All of them have completed their P.hd from top institutes across the country. Some of the faculties improvise innovative techniques in their teching, others are rather more traditional. But one thing can be assured that they will always be there to help you. Just ask them about any problem you have. So that's the best way. Alwas attend the clases and stay close to the faculties.

Good life memory

Likes

College ambience was too attractive. Friendly atmosphere ആൻഡ് very nice hidden spots and food spots inside the college
The faculty was too supportive and encouragive nature that was also in studies and extra curricular activities also that be very kind of them
There is not only aim to study but also encourage the extra activities. The management was also very supportive to students and also the faculties.

Dislikes

There is very strict to attendence. There was not to bunk the class every hour there will take the attendence and there will be absent they autimaticaly send sms to registerd phone
There is too many exams and assignments that will be little bit problem for students
Canteen facilities little bit bad in my college life time. There was not that much food veriety

Placement Experience:

From 6 th semester onwards campus placement taken. There was coming in bcs, infopark, wipro, etc. Companies are mainly appeared and also many other companies came select many students. The main companies take students in cutoff 8.5or9 cgpa. And some other compnies take students they have backpapers.

I choose btech cse cause it was the trending course at that time and I was computer science student in my high school so it was best for me to choose btech cse at that time. And I believe it cold be a great career choice

This college is not what it seems in the first look.

Likes

College was at a beautiful place. It was not a city but a beautiful place.
Hostel was great. I got many friends from there.
These are the only things that I can think of.

Dislikes

Teachers, they are horrible one one teacher named aparna was professional and ethical. My HOD was the worst.
Principal is the worst. She does not hear students side. She is money minded. I had a fee pending for not more than 2 week. When I went to her for signing my medical report she demanded that she will sign only after I paid that fee
The college does not encourage extra curricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Likes

Decent infrastructure. hostel infrastructure is also clean and better than most colleges

Dislikes

Very poor campus life. No importance for cultural programmes and activities
Very poor and degrading environment for women. Faculties and other staff are very judgemental.
Very low packages for average students. Placement training is regularly being provided, but it is too hectic to be managed along with curriculum.

Placement Experience:

students become eligible for placements after sixth semester. Major companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, e.t.c are recruiters. about 5-10 students are recuited on average by these companies. highest package was offered by south indian bank in 2023 (10 LPA). average packges are around 2 to 3 LPA.

We have a very good faculty family that is not only supportive but also loving.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester we are eligible for the placements. They provide placement training sessions in the college itself. Computer Science department has almost hundred percent placements. Also there is mtech in the college if you prefer higher studies.

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Likes

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

After 6 th semester students become eligible for placements . It's in the final years . Many companies have visited the college and made offers for the students like Wipro,Tenzo tech , infopark etc Around 70 Percent students get placement

When it comes to the campus life, I enjoyed all the 4 years
The infrastructure was okayish Could've improved.
The faculty was really friendly and I was able to approach them without any hesitation.

Dislikes

The road from the junction to the college is not at all maintained. Students coming up the hill find it very difficult to reach college
The bus fees are increased every year. But these people can't find a way to provide seats for the students after paying their bus fee.
Some other campus offer many varieties of food in their canteen. This has to be done here too

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.

Remarks:

Yeah well, positive things are there. I got many friends. I got a degree. I learned much personal and professional knowledge. I also learned how to live independently for 4 years without parents alone somewhere.

I had applied for Jossa, Csab and Mht Cet councelling. I had got Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, Information Technology Branch in Jossa I was allotted with Electronics and Communication Engineering branch at NIT Trichy in CSAB. In MHT-CET councelling I was allotted with Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Pune Computer Engineering. As I had more inclination towards mechanical design and structures I decided to opt for Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram. IIST-An Unexplored Space

IIST is asia's first institute dedicated solely to space science and technology. It comes under Department of Space and not Ministry of Education which makes it one of its kind in India. I chose IIST over IIT(BHU) varansi , BITS Pilani (Electronics branch) and VIT Vellore (CS branch) because of IIST's ties with ISRO and various space relarted organisations. I got a confirmed seat in all the above 3 institutes but preferred IIST over them. Admission process at IIST opens after JEE-Advanced results declaration. Only JEE Advanced qualified candidates are eligible to apply here. It conducts its seperate counselling on its website. Last cutoff for all 3 branches is around 15000 CRL.
