Remarks

The college feels like our home. Whenever we get one month holiday in winter, we get bored in our home and keep reminding of the college. Internet facilities are very good. Hostel is clean. Mess food could be made better, but they don't have the choice. E

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE I scored 163. I opted for this college as I was interested in Computer Science branch. IIT Ropar's CS is very good.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, we have a Training and Placement cell which helps students to get summer internship in 3rd year. Stipend ranges from 10000 to 50000.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are very good as it's an IIT. Last year, every student was placed in CS branch with an average package of 17 lpa.

College Events

4.5

A number of events are celebrated. The college festival "zeitgeist" is very wonderful. Students from every corner attend it. Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Holi is celebrated too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a government college, the fee is very less. For general and OBC students, it's 90000 per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarship to the deserving students. Students with less parent income get their fee waived.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is good. Every student enjoy it. We have a lots of friends and weekends are celebrated. Gender ratio is horrible. Only 4 to 10 girls per 100 students. Competitions and seminars are organised every week. Students actively takes part in it.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities is good but mess food is average only.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors and alumni are very helpful in guiding throughout our college life. They tell how to tackle each problems which we face. They behave just like own brothers.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty is very good. We always get a lots of support in every field. Courses offered are interesting too.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
