Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is very holistic in nature. It provides a vast and comprehensive understanding and knowledge about today's ever-changing practical world where our life is quite literally driven by various forms of media. Through this course, one who enjoys creativity and analytical thinking can explore several opportunities meant for them, which they would not only enjoy but also utilise them effectively for personal and professional growth. However, the curriculum can start including more industry visits and practical sessions which gives the practical exposure beneficial for a student.

Placement Experience

2

Internship opportunities are available for the students, starting from 5th semester. At the end of the internship, most of the students are offered a full time role in the company they are interning at. Quite a few companies visit the college for the placement drive.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as the fee structure is concerned, students are required to pay 56,000 INR per semester. There are six semesters which amounts to somewhat around 3,57,000 INR including exam fees. Student credit card facility is available. However, the college does not offer any merit scholarships as of now. Our department has 3 major academic events- Ad Adda, Journoscope and HAFF. These events bring a wide variety of lessons for us. There are internship opportunities available for the students from the 5th semester, as well.

Campus Life

3

The department has three major inter-college academic events- Ad Adda, an event on advertising and marketing; Journoscope,an event focused on mass communication and journalism and HAFF (Heritage Academy Film festival), an event focused on film studies and filmmaking. However, I feel that there is an avid need for cultural events besides academics. Unfortunately, we do not have any cultural fests to enjoy. However, I absolutely enjoy the presence of a beautiful and huge campus, decorated with pretty flowers and fresh green trees. There are three canteens available for the students, as well.

Admission

Since the course I opted for is provided under the guidance of MAKAUT, I had to clear the CET exam (Common Entrance Test). I personally felt that the exam was easy to clear.Besides, my marksheet was reviewed thoroughly for the admission process. There was an in interview session where my eligibility and suitability for the course was tested based on my communication skills, aims and objectives of life and career. One can easily find all the information regarding admission on the official website of the college- tha.edu.in.

Interview Experience

4

I faced 2 interview sessions for the admission- one with the admin of The Heritage Academy and the other with the Dean of Department of Media Science. I was tested on the basis of my thought-process and communication skills during the interview session that I had with the Dean. She asked me the reason behind choosing this course and how I plan to utilise the lessons learnt through this in my future career. I did not feel the need to prepare myself for the interview since it was more of a conversational and interactive process, aiming to analyse my personality and characteristic traits.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
