Course Curriculum Overview

5

Well to be honest the curriculum is not as bad as we think. For an undergraduate computer science student, the syllabus of bsc computer science covers almost all the aspects ranging from hardwares and softwares to different aspects of computer science field and also gives a clear knowledge about artificial intelligence and other prominent fields. This curriculum allows the students to have a proper idea about what field they should take in the future. Taking about the curriculum and it's influence on real-world aspects I can assure that it does provides experiences for working in a job. Syllabus includes two projects (major and minor) which allows the students to develop a software which have a social importance of their choice. Projects allow the students to improvise their soft skills like team management, adaptability etc. This allows the students to gain some experience and idea about how they are going to work in company.

Internships Opportunities

4

Our program didn't had internships but had 2 projects which allowed us to gain practical experience. It helped us to polish our soft skills and also improvise our knowledge in the field. By constantly working on the project and also correcting our mistakes we got a clear idea about how the work in the outer world is.

Placement Experience

4

My college does provide placements to students. Most of the placements targeted students of the final semester. There were many companies that offered placements to students. Some of the noticable companies were TCS, TATA etc. Also many companies from Info park also offered placements

Fees and Financial Aid

Since my college is an aided college, there wasn't much of any fees. I had an yearly tution fees of nearly 4000. For the semester exam registration fees, the amount never crossed over 800. I believe this course was affordable to many since many students came from middle class families. Regarding the scholarships, there are Alumini scholarships, E-Grants scholarship and so on which provided about 5000 ruppees per annum. Students could use this amount to pay their fees.

Campus Life

4

I had a fair college life during my college days. There were different programmes throughout the year. They were mainly college day, arts day, cultural fest, sports day, ethnic day and different club activities. Also there were different seminars on various days regarding various social aspects.

Admission

The admission was through online. I applied through the Kerala University admission portal. There were much of requirements since it was UG admission. The admission was based on merit. Each student was given an index Mark based on their 12th marks. My index Mark was nearly 1200 and the college I applied offered seats for students having the index Mark within 1200. Thereby I got applied to that college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
