Remarks
I found the college to be good. The faculty is pretty strict. If you want to study in a very peaceful and friendly environment, this is the best choice.... All the best!
Entrance Preview
I was kinda not hoping for getting a government institute but when I got the results, I was totally surprised somehow I got this college. Little did I knew about this. It had the most immense environment, surrounded by greenary. Placed in the centre of the city, yet quiet and peaceful. And how can you forget about the MBBS life...
Course Curriculum Overview
I personally feel the course curriculum has a very vast syllabus and the time limit 5.5 years is not enough for completing the MBBS course. The 1st year starts with the basics of human life, covering non-clinical subjects anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. The 2nd year starts by taking a big leap entering into the clinical side, interacting with patients, taking diferent cases, giving differential diagnosis. an2nd year also covers non-clinical subjects like pharmacology, microbiology, pathology and forensic medicine. 2nd is for 1.5yrs and is also known as honeymoon period of the mbbs life. 3rd years covers opthalmology, ent and community medicine. Final year covers surgery, medicine, OBGY and pediatrics. Then there is a year of paid internship. It ends with the begining of your real medical life. Research labs are also present.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college provides a internship. Its basically like studying in the college because you are still under the professor's hands. The diference is that you are being paid. The stipend is approx ?20,000. The stipend may increase during the course of time.
Placement Experience
The college doesn't have any placements. No companies come here. Usually, after completing MBBS students start preparing for the pg exams or work as a junior resident. It depends on student. Working in any small hospital will pay you around 40-50k. Even doing a part time would work will be enough to take care of your daily expenses.
College Events
Our college conducts 3 main fests every year. The main and the biggest event is the Ganesha Fest. Its starts in the eve of Ganesh chaturthi and last about 15days. Each and everybody takes part in the events organised. Sports activities are also conducted, there is batchwise competition for evry event. The 2nd fest is organised for the freshers during the month of November generally after kannada rajyostava. The 3rd and the final is the annual college event.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very much feasible compared to other private colleges. I dont know the current college fees as it keeps changing for every new batch. The hostel fees is around 10k for each year and there is separate mess bill around 2k per month. Summing up
Fees and Financial Aid
There are variety of loan facilities available. However, its not directly avialable through the college but you can find on internet. E-pass is one the common one. Other scholarships include jindal, indian oil, mhrd etc. SC/ST students are given many other scholarships too, they can also avail free books.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite boring due to very less strength of hostilites. The total college including interns would be around 700 people max. The gender ratio is 1:1. People here are very much disciplined. Maybe there are around 100 labs. Sports activities are oftenly conducted. The district stadium is just next to the college, so limit for the sporty guys. Debates and parties are also held during the fest time.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are not excellent still since its newly built it has the best of the basic amenities. Every 2 students are given one room with a attached bathroom. The coomond is of western type. Every room has a geyser but it doesn't work. Mess management is also good. Chicken is monthly once. I feel the breakfast is best compared to other meals. Once in a while ice creams and seets are also given. Nutritionaly I feel the food given is good.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are very good and very much helpful. From 2nd yr onwards most of the things has to be learned by the seniors. Seniors are very friendly here.
Exam Structure
The exams the quite hectic due the the enormous syllabus. Usually we have 3 internal exams and an end semester examination which concludes your result. The thing in MBBS is to pass and not to top. If you score below 50% in the final exams you are detained. Above 75% is considered distinction.
Admission
I got admission through neet entrace exam. KCET reserves 85% of the seats for the same state students so I got it through it. However, if you are from other state you'll have to score 550+, also you'll be ONLY allotted through neet. The admission procedure is pretty simple the KCET website will showcase the documents required such as marksheets, bonafide certificates and all. When you go for the admission you have to take these documents with the ADMISSION ORDER and pay the fees, that's it. Administrative department is very helpful here.
Faculty
I found the 1st year faculty to be the best. The classes were totally awesome. All of the professors are well qualified. , teacher taught the us till the very best and some were really exceptional. Also, counselling given by some of the teachers proved to be very helpful during our exams. The teachers were very supportive just like the old days and the doesn't interaction was also pretty good. From 2nd year onwards when you enter the clinical side, the fate changes, most oftenly teachers are busy in treating the patients. Typical story of every medical college. Still, they manage to teach us best of their amenities.
