Course Curriculum Overview
The college's 100 years of legacy influenced my decision to choose this course. The electrical department of the college is known for it's dedicated and highly experienced faculty and lab attenders. The curriculum also provides flexible college timings enabling students to participate in extracurricular activities, internships, courses etc. It includes highly functional labs and subjects equipping them for real world challenges and analytical thinking. The semester end exams are conducted once in 5-6 months. The difficulty of these exams are moderate.
Internships Opportunities
The curriculum demands one compulsory internship every year. I have been part of quant technology's summer internship program through college. Improved soft skills, analytical thinking and problem solving skills were few of the outcomes of the internship.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements from 6th semester. Companies like ABB, Royal Enfield, HP, Ernst and Young, Sony, Hitachi, Volvo and mass recruiters like Accenture, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro and many others visit the campus for placements. Highest package in EEE department last year was 24LPA plus lifestyle allowances. Approximately 70% of students are placed in entire campus. After my degree, I am looking for getting placed from campus placement for UX position.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is very affordable and it decreases through years. Regularity of fee payment in annual. My complete cost of education for 4 years of course would approximately be 2,00,000/- rupees only. There are many scholarships provided to students such as Catalyst scholarship, Vision UVCE Scholarship, UVCE Graduates Association Scholarships, UVCEGA scholarships etc. I am co-founder of one of the college cultural club.
Campus Life
The technical festivals include 1. Impetus (March) 2. Kagada (November) 3. Bhag UVCE Bhag (September) The books and journals are easily available and accessible both physically and online form. The students are more present in labs than classrooms enabling them to understand the concepts better. There are annual sports meet and online tournaments held. However, the extracurricular activities are widely and actively conducted in college every month. There are extracurricular clubs, debate clubs, environmental activist's clubs that actively organsizes events. However, the college inclines significantly towards technical opportunities rather than cultural events or sports events.
Admission
I opted for Bachelor's in Technology (Electric and Electronics Engineering) in University of Visvesvaraya college of Engineering. Eligibility : Candidate must attempt KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) and aquire a rank ranging from 2,000-30,000. Application form is available on KEA website. The application fees ranges from 500/- to 800/-. The application dates will be announced by KEA (Karnataka Education Authority). Reservation Categories include SC/ST, OBC, EWS, PWD, sports quota. Candidate must have proofs identified by the state such as caste certificate, income certificate etc in order to avail reservation benifits. The examination is conducted annually. The difficulty of examination is moderate. Unlike JEE and NEET, KCET doesn't have negative markings. Time management can be a challenge considering the number of questions to be answered within limited time. Verification process could be improved as it is very time consuming and requires hard copies of every document.
