My review about College of Engineering, Adoor

I think the curriculum is wonderful, however some of the regulations that the university has put in place seems to be difficult for the students. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at KTU. The syllabus primarily addresses the contemporary, industrialized world. The main issue is that you have to cover a lot of stuff in just four months, including lab exams. There is not enough time in the schedule to complete all of the assignments, project, and internal exams.

The intership oppertunities availed with the college is limited. But they will give permission and recommendations to do an internship at different government and private institutions which provides intership, mostly without stipend.

From seventh semester, there will be companies visit for placement, most are from IT field. Most companies have regulations for placement such as no supply or a higher cgpa, so the placement is limited to less number of students. There are companies with less annual package and also higher package. After getting degree it is also hard to find a job as a fresher.

The fee structure and availability of financial assistance for btech can vary depending on the institution, entrance rank ,other reservation benefits.For undergraduate courses at KTU, tution fee range from 23800 to 5 lakhs per year, depending on course and level of study. The students with higher entrance ranks at government colleges has only a fee less than 10000 per year, while other merit students at other colleges have to pay 35000 per year. And there will be extra fee for different colleges facilities and other fest and sports events. There are many scholarships and financial aids provided by different government and private schemes and this could cover the college fees.The criteria for getting the financial assistance or scholarship is depend on the reservation and entrance rank.

The overall experience is great. But the duration for a semester is very less. A semester is completed in four months, which was 6 months earlier. But there are facilities provided at the institution which includes different libraries including digital, facilities at the classroom, Gym, and also include different arts program and tech fests. And there is also sports meets and other extracurricular activities such as NSS , motor sports clubs, arts and other clubs.These all will give a better experience at the institution, but still the duration of a semester is less with heavy syllabus.

The admission process is mainly by entrance exam and there is also management quota.The fees for management quota is almost double than the merit quota. The allotment process is done through the KTU University portal and college is allotted according to the rank of the entrance exam.There is a fee of 10000 should be paid to the University, if you got a merit admission with a fee of 35000 period year. The admission process takes around 3 to 5 hours at the allotted college. We have to fill the application, other consents, etc.
