Entrance Preview
For the uniqueness of its curriculum, the intensity of mission and the quality of alumnus and educational standard. The institute offered an opportunity to cut across the herd of management degrees and created a unique niche for itself. the mission of the institute was noble and guaranteed job satisfaction. the educational standard was at par with the Ivy league.
Course Curriculum Overview
- Very much curated and customized for rural management; - extreme focus on quality of delivery and discussion; - Focus on thought development of the participants; - in depth detailing of certain subjects; - a steady blend of developmental economics and management principles; - participatory.
Internships Opportunities
there were 3 internship opportunities in 2 years, each with 2 month of duration. the stipend were as follows: 1. Village immersion: no stipend, but the host organization took care of the food, lodging and incidentals; 2. Organisational Trainee-ship: INR15,000/month 3. Management Trainee-ship: INR25,000
Placement Experience
Excellent. - Each student had more than 10 jobs to choose for; - there was variety of companies to chose from, from banking and insurance to the leading FMCGs of the country - Special scholarship for students joining developmental organizations; - the whole batch was placed on zero day.
College Events
There are multiple: 1. Abhivyakti, the welcoming of the new batch : this is a inter-block skit competition organized by the senior batch and competed by the new batch; 2. Welcome parties: There are block level, batch level and faculty organized parties 3. Independence day celebration: This is a huge affair with a gala cultural program 4. Milaap: annual alimni meet 5.Inter institute management game competitions organized by IRMA 6. SPICMACAY 7. Grind ..... the list goes on and on....
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees was INR250,000 in 2007. The fee has increased in recent times. However, there is loan facility available, which takes care of the same. Also the scholarships take care of the needy and meritorious students. The fee would cover all subscriptions, books, classnotes and library fees including computer and internet fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
Education loan is available to all students there is TATA-AMUL scholarship on a need+ merit basis, which used to cover the entire educational cost students joining developmental organizations at a less than batch average salary, used to get the matching money per month as scholarship.
Campus Life
Gender ratio of the campus have improved significantly over the years. the diversity is a treat in itself-- there are students from almost all states of the country. Yet, there is no regional sentiments: one learns a lot from the diverse student profile and the campus prepares one for the job world in future. there are facilities for a host of extra-curricular activities, including own audi and gyms.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are best in the country. Each participant have single occupancy rooms with necessary furnishings. Hostels are architecturally designed to promote interaction as well as self development and privacy. Mess food is probably the best in the country. We still miss some of the mess foods.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni are very helpful and are like a family. Any city and any organization where we have the alumni, one feels comfortable and welcome.
Exam Structure
there were 5 terms and 3 internships. for the terms. - 20-30% of the marks depended on Quizes, 50% of which were unannounced quizes, - 30% marks for mid-term exams - 30% marks for end- term exams - 10% marks on class participation - 10-20% marks on project works.
Admission
Screening through entrance exam followed by day long personal interaction sessions. The personal interaction included: 1. Group discussion on a recent topic; 2. A guided conformity discussion where all the 10 GD participants were asked to rank solutions to a given problem; 3. Personal interview which lasted for more than 45 minutes.
