Course Curriculum Overview
The main aspect of me choosing this course was fueled by the fact that I had a keen interest in the provided course as it provides us with a deeper view of what and how technology works. The course curriculum is quite relevant in today's world as we step more into a technological era where gadgets have become a norm. Although the course is great as it is, a few improvements won't hurt. The syllabus can be updated each academic year with information relevant to the latest tech used in market. This can be helpful as by the time the students, they'll already have a grasp of working with latest tech which can reduce time wasted on operating on an outdated system. The exams happen monthly and the difficulty is between moderate to high depending on how vast the syllabus is .
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for on-campus placements from 7th semester and on-campus internships from 5th semester. A large number of companies visit including atlasian, sprinklr, Goldman Sachs. Previous year 96 offers where made for computer science students and atlasian being highest at 85lpa whereas average is 18lpa. Around 70% students got placed. I'll go for MBA after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee for the course is around ?14,60,000, starting with ?1,55,00 from 1st semester and a hike of ?20,000 each year. The complete cost comes around ?16,00,000 including the hostel, mess and all other charges overall. Although the fees might look high, there are many scholarships available for the students. The GP BIRLA Scholarship usually ranges from (25-100)% fee waiver depending on the Ward's family annual income and their semester gpa for the previous semester. There's also GP BIRLA Merit scholarship for students who score above 8.5 semester gpa and the fee waiver ranging from 25-100%. Apart from that, college also provides financial aid to students who are keen in entrepreneurship or students who lost their parents and are unable to continue their education. Regarding campus employment,no such things are available for Undergraduate students.
Campus Life
There are a bunch of clubs in the college depending on the student's interest. All clubs conduct their festivals / fest individually. The technical fest 'Pantheon' usually occurs around September and has a variety of events where anyone could participate. The cultural fest 'Bitotsav' happens around February / March. A large number of books and journals are available in the library which are accessible to all the students. The classrooms are well equipped with projectors ,blackboards and air conditioners . A large sports complex is present inside the complex ranging a wide variety of sports and games. Sports day usually happens in February and apart from that interhostel tournaments also take place. There is no official student body but students can take part in BIT welfare society.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is okayish considering the fees. Students usually get a double sharing room with a table, a chair and two beds. The mess menu is filled with all variety of food although the quality is not so good. The hostel registration happens just after the physical reporting.
Admission
The students interested can take admission through the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE mains). You can fill the form for JEE mains through jeemains.nta.ac.in . The exam usually happens twice a year, once in January and once in April. The exam difficulty is usually moderate to very high depending on the shift . The application fees is ?1000 for GEN/OBC/GEN-EWS male candidates whereas ?500 for SC/ST/PWD/Transgender and Female candidates. The cutoff for Cse is usually around 28,000 crl with home state quota or 20,000 crl for outside state students for general category. As for students with SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL category, it may even drop to 2,00,000 crl. There should be a seperate exam for admission in the institute like Comedk which can help reduce the competition aka jee rat-race.
