Remarks

Overall, I would say that for anyone living in India it is pretty much one of the best options available and the management although being very friendly and interactive has its cons but the effect it has on an average BITsian doesn't amount to much.

Entrance Preview

EXAM:BITSAT SCORE:320. Reasons for joining BITS:- No Attendance Yes, you heard it right Bits has a zero attendance policy to promote students to pursue their passion if they are not interested in their degree.

Internships Opportunities

The internships are called Practice School which are a part of our curriculum and we are graded in them based on our performances. The PS-1 is undertaken at the end of the second year and it goes on for a duration of 2 months. Generally, their is no stipend in this one. The PS-2 however goes on for an entire semester and is undertaken in our 4th year. The stipend generally ranges between 15000-100000. Both these programs tend to expose the BITsian to the industrial setup.

Placement Experience

B ITS pilani has concluded its final placements for the 2017 batch, securing an average salary of Rs 11.07 lakh. The Pilani campus saw a top salary of Rs 35 lakh and an average salary of Rs 11.47 lakh while the Goa campus had a top salary of Rs 29.5 lakh and an average of Rs 10.95 lakh. At the Hyderabad campus, the highest and average salaries were Rs 35 lakh and Rs 10.51lakh, respectively. The university’s three campuses—Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad—saw a total of 646 recruiters, 38 more than the last year, said , chief placement officer-India & Dubai at BITS Pilani University. Close to 86 per cent of the overall batch got placed this year against around 83 percent the year before. Balasubramanian said keeping the overall hiring environment in mind, the institute had advanced its placement season by a week across semesters to gain an advantage

College Events

BITSMUN is one of the longest-running and most eagerly awaited MUNs in India. With 400+ participants who engage in high quality of debate on various issues that affect the world, it has earned the distinction of being one of the biggest and best MUNs in the country.APOGEEOver the years the Birla Institute Of Technology And Science, Pilani has built and maintained a reputation of imparting the right mix of education, experience and ethics that form the basis for achieving success in the modern world.BOSM The BITS Open Sports Meet, or BOSM, as all know it, is one of the largest student managed Sports fests of the country. The four-day festival encompasses everything about sports.Aimed at providing a platform to colleges from all over India to showcase their talents, promoting healthy competition, it gives attendees an opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and events. Oasis is one of the largest cultural festivals of India held by BITS-Pilani, Pilani

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for a normal single degree is around 14 lakhs right now. However, thanks to the fee hike of 15% introduced by our campus trustees the fees is rising at a rate faster than the downfall of Congress and will soon suck us dry into the BPL category.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are few scholarships available under the names of MCN which is based on need and is provided to those with a family income of less than eight lakhs while the other one is a merit scholarship for those who are among top 50 in the college. The loan facilities are abundant with ICICI bank and SBI being the most readily available ones.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels in the first year are generally double rooms. After which everyone is alloted a single room which changes each year. The mess food is far below anything you eat at your home right now so don't expect anything before coming here. In the country, there are eateries in our campus which are decent enough and would play a crucial role in your survival. All of these are pretty cheap.

Exam Structure

Well the exams and the labs are pretty frequent and one has to be at their best to secure the top ranks taking in consideration the level of competition that exists between the students. Therefore leaving the days of an average studious guy pretty hectic while on the other hand the average BITsians day is pretty chilled out as he/she has no intentions on attending the classes or the tests because they busy in their other curricular activities whatever they may be and in the end take "LITE" on their studies.

Admission

The admission process is simple. After BITSAT the student has to fill in his preferences based on his marks on his dashboard. After which the counselling round takes place and if the students marks exceed the cutoff's he/she will be offered an admission. Till here the entire process is pretty much online. Once they are accepted, they have pay their registration fees and then attend the college premises for the registration where they are provided with the course handouts, hostels etc. The administration is very helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. During campus registrations the seniors themselves take up the initiative to guide the Freshers in the entire process.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty at BITS are composed of the best in the country. Most of them have attained a Ph.D. in their fields and have pretty good research output. One can see their knowledge and experience by the way they conduct their classes. Truly, the work of true professionals.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The exams and their questions, I would rate the 8.5 out of 10 in term of difficulties because of twisted questions. In class their is always class test , assignments , and presentation which personaly I consider good to boost the confidence and presentation level. Teachers use both board and projector for teaching, it mostly depends on students how they want to learn. Companies like appollo come to tell us about them and how we can do better which is a good thing.

A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independent and grow as an individual.
