IIM Visakhapatnam Unveiled: Shaping future leaders.

The curriculum of IIM Vizag is designed in such a manner that it provides you with knowledge related to industrial aspects and also with overall exposure to the corporate world. Subjects like managerial accounting help you understand the basics of the finance world and then subjects like managerial marketing and operations management give you an idea about those respective domains. I was unaware of the finance world since I was from an engineering background, so these subjects helped me to gain knowledge. Apart from this, many generic subjects give you a generic and wholesome knowledge about all the aspects of Management, in the first year of an MBA, and based on your preference you can choose your electives as majors and minors in the domain you want to pursue your career. The exam pattern consists of quizzes, midterms, and endterms, each having weightage along with graded assignments and projects. With discussions on the business scenario, the exams are also conducted on similar line

The summer internship program of IIM Visakhapatnam is good, and the placement committee puts a lot of effort into placing every student in their preferred domain and that too with a healthy stipend. The program provides students with an opportunity to get practical experience and insights into the corporate world preparing them for a life after campus. Similar to final placements, the summer internship program guarantees 100% placements to every student. According to the latest data of summer internships of the 2022-24 batch, a total of 134 companies visited the campus of which 96 were new recruiters, some of the prominent recruiters were Deloitte, EY, Macdonalds, Heritage, Adani, ICICI, and ICICI Lombard, etc which covers every domain of management, with a median stipend of Rs. 70000. The summer internship program commences in October and it also provides every student ample amount of opportunity to secure placements in there preferred domain.

IIM Vizag is one of the premier institutes of India, currently ranked 29 in the NIRF ranking. The Institute has a remarkable track record of achieving 100% placements each year. The placement data of IIM Visakhapatnam for the year 2022-23, gives us a glimpse of how nicely this college is trying to provide one of the best placements among the top tier 3, MBA colleges in India. In the last placement year, which starts from the month of September to February of the next year, 100% of students got placed with the highest package of 32.62 lakhs(CTC), with an average package of 16.61 lakhs and a median package of 16 lakhs. The placement process starts in November, both the official placements and some of the students get pre-placement offers(PPO) from the companies where they did summer internships. The prominent recruiters are Adani, Asian paints, Deloitte, MTR, haldirams, and IDFC First Bank. As a marketing enthusiast, I want to pursue my career as a brand manager in a leading MNC.

The fee structure of IIMV is simple and can be divided into four heads namely Program Fees:- 260000 (approx) per trimester Advance mess and other charges:- around Rs.25000 per trimester. Student welfare activities:- Rs.20000 per trimester. Which sums up to a total of Rs.290000 per trimester. Additionally, tuition fees increase almost every year, although it is not compulsory, but generally, increase. It's worth noting that there are scholarships available for students for financial assistance. The first one is the "IIMV merit"-based scholarship which is a waiver of tuition fees for the second year based on the cumulative scores of the first year. It is awarded to the top two students of the first year. There is also "Financial Aid" awarded to eligible students who have an annual household income of a maximum of Rs. 500000. After fulfilling the eligibility criteria, a Personal Interview will take place, and based on that around 8% of students will get the benefit of this scheme.

IIM Visakhapatnam is known for its studies and enjoyment, so there are a lot of annual fests take place by different clubs and committees, namely Hridaya(from the Hr club), Vriddhi( from the business cluster), Sanshrey( from the alumni committee) and Samarambh- annual fest of IIM Visakhapatnam ( from the cultural cluster). The main library of IIMV is still under construction and thus there is a temporary library which has a large set of books related to your interest, also our library has a database of almost all the companies which provides us the real and detailed data of all the firm with there permission and government approval, which is helpful in our learnings. The classrooms are state-of-the-art and digitally equipped with smart audio and visual setup, the classrooms are based on the Harward Business School model and are very hi-tech. For sports, our college has separate facilities for cricket, football, and track events as well for indoor sports and a very large gymnasium.

IIM Visakhapatnam provides a mandatory residential program for MBA students, even if they are residents. There are a total of 11 hostels with state of the art facility that a person requires for living. Each student will have separate rooms with a bed box, almirah, cupboards, AC, etc, there is a common washroom facility on each floor, that has 7 rooms in total. l The registration process was very smooth and all the paperwork was done in minutes. During the registration process, each of us was provided with an AC remote, a fan remote, and a welcome kit. There is a large mess on the campus which can accommodate at least 400 people at a time, the mess is designed in the front of the campus. There is a facility of 4 meals a day, including evening snacks. The vendor of the mess is a 3-star hotel chain that provides very delicious food with high hygiene standards. The quality of food is constantly monitored at regular intervals by administration so that the quality of food remain constant.

So, to get admission to the Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam, you have first to clear the Common Admission Test exam, which is conducted once a year based on your percentile in the CAT exam, the shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a Personal Interview round and based on the cumulative scores, students are shortlisted for admission. The CAT exam is a multiple choice exam with moderate difficulty level and it has three sections namely Quantitive aptitude, Verbal ability, reading comprehension and data interpretation, and logical reasoning. After clearing the set cutoff of IIMV, which is 80, 72,72,45,35 (only for shortlisting of Phase 1, the final cutoff will be high) for UR, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, calls for PI round will be sent to students in Jan to Feb and in March PI process will take place, and after that based on the cumulative scores candidates are selected in May to June. With IIMV, the application included a section on SOP to mention personal, educational details

After scoring the shortlisting cut-off of IIM Visakhapatnam, in the CAT exam, shortlisted candidates have to undergo a WAT, GD, and Interview round. But in our admission process, GD and WAT didn't take place, and instead, directly the shortlisted candidates were called for the PI. The Interview process was very smooth and was overseen by faculty members, they wanted to know about your previous life, like your schooling, your undergrad, your achievements, if you have held any position of responsibility before as well as about your interests and hobbies. You should be well prepared about the details that you will be submitting before the interview and you should have proper justification about your actions in the past. I prepared PI with my sister who has already done an MBA from a tier-2, Bschool and she used to take my mock PI and guide me in areas where I lag and also help me in framing my answers according to the requirements of the exams and the preferred college.
