Remarks
Everything about the college is great except for the minimum attendance criteria (85%) and the fine structure. For mostly everything especially attendance fines are imposed on the student ranging from 1-2k which can be avoided if you are on good terms with the teachers.
Entrance Preview
I got the admission through COMEDK exam. I had scored a rank of 11200 and I opted for this college because of its rank, its infrastructure and I have heard many good things about the college from my brother.
Internships Opportunities
The college has collaboration with some companies, which a student can make use of. Free courses like IOS development, IOT workshops are conducted and after completion of that course, the student can pursue a project in that domain for which he/she will get a certificate. No stipend is given.
College Events
Each branch holds their own fest once a year. This usually lasts only a day and is not that grand and the events are mostly based on that branch. Varchaswa is the main fest in which all branch members work together. It's usually the main attraction since it usually involves intra college events, DJ night, street dance and many other such kinds of events. Chief guest like movie actors is also invited for the events.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship are provided on the basis of caste and an annual income of a person. I've not availed so I don't know much about that.
Campus Life
The campus life overall is great. The gender ratio is almost the same. The crowd is 70/30 where 70% are from karnataka and 30% are from other states. 3 canteen are there, the campus is huge. The infrastructure is the main attraction of the college with each branch having their own building. The library is pretty good and students can also access internet in the library. Competitions are held regularly since it's banglore and sjbit has one of the best infrastructures so students do get a lot of chance to show their talent. The college does support students if they are good at something and provides as many opportunities as possible.
Hostel Facilities
Regarding the hostel facilities, two options are present two sharing and three sharing. In two sharing attached bathroom are present as for three sharing shared bathroom are present which is not a problem considering the fact for each floor 10 bathrooms are present. Hostel wifi is present, hot water is given but only in the morning, rooms are spacious and separate wardrobe is given to all students. Hostels are equipped with cc TV camera. The mess food is average its not good but its not that bad either. 4 meals are given during the day breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. At lunch and breakfast, students are given chapati (mostly undercooked), rice, fried rice, sambar, dal, sabzi(changes every day), sabzi and a sweet or curd. Overall the food quality is good, but the taste is same for all the sabzi.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are usually helpful in providing the assistance and guidance about how and what to study. Regular orientation programs are organized by college also but the information that a senior can provide is way better. Sjbit has a ragging free campus so the students can approach the seniors without any fear.
Exam Structure
Exams are conducted every month, for each internal exam there are 6 subjects in which each day exam for two subjects are conducted and the exam is completed in a matter for 3 days. Exams are hectic considering the fact no gap is given between the holidays but It won't be a problem if the student has studied well because the syllabus is usually less. For the externals, sufficient gap and time are given so that the student can study and score well in the exams.
Admission
To get into the college you can opt for COMEDK exam, CET exam or through management quota. Once you have opted for the exam depending on your marks ranks will be alloted to you. Multiple rounds of counselling takes place in which a person can choose the college he wants. CET exam can be taken only by the students who belong to karantaka.
Faculty
Most of the teachers are highly qualified but not all of them teach well. Students mostly have to rely on themselves to score well since most of the time teachers are not able to even complete the syllabus. There are teachers who are qualified and Interested in their subjects and will help anyone who approaches them but you can only find a handful of those Teachers.
